Pinky Pull Down help needed

Postby Bcfaigg » Jul 11th, '06, 22:26

Hi, I have recently learnt the Asher Twist, and the move is coming along nicely - it is getting smoother and smoother, and looking more and more deceptive.
The only problem, is that I am struggling with the pinky pull down to get a break. Lee explains this in his dvd, but only briefly.
Does anyone have any tips on this move. At the moment, I am using a buckle to get the break, disguising it whilst I do the shaking of the cards.
Rather than get more and more accustomed to using the buckle, I feel I should nip this in the bud whilst the Muscle Memory is not too set in stone.
Like all moves, I am sure the Pinky Pull Down is a knack that just needs practice.

Any tips please? Alternatively, if anyone knows any dvds/books that explain this well, I might consider investing - serial CUPS sufferer here.

Thanks
Gopes

Try bevelling the near end of the pack to the left.
That way the bottom card will stick out very slightly, on the right hand side.

I will try - what I need to be careful is to minimise any fumbling for the break - the key to the AT (and any other sleight) is smoothness, so want to avoid having to pause to 'search' for the break with my pinky.
Also, bevelling works better with a whole deck - but because the AT is only with 4 cards - it is harder.
Will try and work on it though - thanks for the tip.

One good tip for pull-down with only four cards is to treat it like a pinky count.
Ie. it's your left thumb pushing on the top left corner of the cards that will give you the necessary bevelling.
The cards bend OVER the base of your left first finger.

Let me know if this isn't clear.

That does help - simple but makes it easier - will have to work on this, but thanks I feel you have pointed me in the right direction.

Duh - no why didn't i think of that - buy the dvd, but don't bother to check the website for tips.
3b and the above tip are allowing me to get there.
I'll post a video in the file sharing in the next couple of days for comment - don't want to do it now, as still not smooth enough - don't want inadvertent exposure.
