Problems with webcam

Postby moonbeam » Jul 11th, '06, 23:28

Ok I'm a bit of a n00b when it comes to PC's so go easy on me please

In the past, I've recorded a few vids on my webcam (It's a Logitech Quickcam Messenger if that helps  ) all without sound. I just tried recording one today and I need sound on  . There's an option where you go into camera options and you can set the recording volume and it shows a bar moving to and fro as you speak, indicating that it's picking up the sound. However, when I record the vid there's no sound and yes I have tried adjusting my speaker volume lol :? . I can even switch it to use either the camera or my mic, to record the sound. Both register as working, as the bar moves to and fro when either one is set as the recording device. Anyone any ideas please ??

Well, after this, I thought I'd just try adding text as a temporary measure, but lo and behold, the cr*ppy text editing package that comes with this webcam only allows me to add text at the beginning or the end of the vid - what about all the bits of text that I need to add in the middle lol  So, can anyone please recommend a good (hopefully free lol) video editing programme :?:

I would imagine you need to set the audio source as well as the video in your recording program. Are you using software that came with the cam?

Yea I'm using the software that came with it.
If I can't get the sound working then I'll just use another video editing programme, cos what use is a video editing programme that only lets you add text at the beginning or end of a video and not in the middle ??

theres two options I can think of... either record some sort of voice over seperately - or use windows movie maker ( if your on pc ) which allows to put titles over clips - aswell as recording from webcam.

I use Windows Movie Maker for all of my videos, and I know for sure that you can have text in the middle of something. It came on my computer and most probably is on yours.
