Cigarette burn TT?

Postby TylerD » Jul 14th, '06, 22:40

Just recently I am trying to use a TT. I have never used one before but just want to experiment. If I take a lit cigarette will it melt the end of the TT??

Apparently if you put foil in the bottom it wont. But dont take my word for it. Its something i have heard - never tried.

Ooh am i allowed to say this. If not please delete it straight away.

Sorry if I'm not supposed to.

Hope its ok.

What kind of TT you are using...some are softer whereas others are more...durable? In that case you might be able to extinguish it within as you might stub out a cigarette normally.

Well I was thinking about using a Vernet Soft TT. But maybe I should get a more solid one....hmmmmm. Maybe I'll do some research. I dont know anything about a TT lol. All I know is a lit cigarette vanish would be pretty amazing. I guess it wont hurt anything. TTs arent that expensive. So I could get a new one if it wrecks it.

MagicToms advice about using tinfoil works a dream

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

The Vernet TT(not soft - I haven't got one ogf those...) certainly claims to not burn using a lit cigarette, but I haven't tested it as I quit a while ago now...

Generally, there isn't sufficient heat in the tip of a lit cigarette that is applied long enough for it to start melting the TT. You're usually looking at a couple of seconds of heat before you begin rubbing it out so it shouldn't be a worry if you've got a decent tip.

not sure if it matters but one of the mentions of a TT was not automatically edited in this thread..

EDIT: probably because it has an "s" at the end

for all your TT needs, also try the book they have for sale for two or three quid, 101 uses for a TT...if your not comfy with using foil (which does work fine by the way), try a metal one instead...which has its own uses anyway...

I sell 'budget' TTs at NUMS. These are cheaper, and practically throwaway.

You could use them to practice I guess.

I'd personally vouch for a soft TT, with a small foil cup in the tip. I've used this method for YEARS.

Not only does it stop the TT from melting, it also stops it discolouring. Oh, and the fact it easier to get the debris out.

In fact, my current soft TT has been with me and doing the mentioned effect for at least 3 years, and because it's a soft TT, it seems to have stood the test of time!

Foil works, no problem - if you try it wothout foil, as Seige mentions, the inside of the TT gets VERY dirty, and is VERY difficult to clean.
