Reading Material for travelling

Hey guys, summer holidays are coming up, just wandering what you guys are taking, or recommend taking, to read on holiday.

Personally, i want to get into coin magic a little more so i have just ordered a copy of Bobo's Modern Coin Magic from magicbox. Having just finished The Royal Road, i think i may also order Expert Card Technique along with a couple of new packs of Bikes and possibly some plastic cards so i dont worry too much about getting them wet around the pool etc.

Should be enough to last me 4 weeks in the good ol' US of A!

I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...

If i was going to America, i wouldn't bother buying anything here, i would wait till im in america, when i went to florida i went to 2 magic shops which were both near my hotel, and brought a few bits. Thats just my opinion, where about in america you of to.

Im going to Minnesota and Florida. Yeah i guess you're right, but i wanted something for on the plane which is why i bought Bobos book. Might take your advice and buy some more stuff over there, could be a lot cheaper as well! Thanks for the advice!

I wouldn't suggest you to practice coin magic on an airplane, most likely you will lose the coin more then several times and the clanging will drive the people near you mad.
But hay I don't have what to say in this manner, last year when I went to London I bought a rocky raccoon, so I went into the plane for the flight back home with it (had to explain to about 6 stewardesses, or what ever they like to be called now, that it's not real, and most of them asked me when I didn’t even move it), so basically all I did was playing with it for most of the 5 hour flight, I had the time of my life, but don't think that was the case to the people near me… I think it was when I made him "eat" my plane food, and some nuts from a bag when people started thinking I'm rather insane, oh yeah and the stewardess I made him jump on didn't care for it much either.. I wonder why  .

BTW I'm flying to America next week, first to Toronto and then to New York so If any of you can suggest local magic shops or related events at that time PM me please. :)

hey, personally I'm not a very good flyer.so i cant really concentrate on anything.but with magic, whenever im travelling(apart from flying  ) i tend to prefer books concentrating more on the history etc....
some of my favourites are:

Hiding the elephant : Jim Steinmyer
The Great Illusionists : Eddie Daws
Learned Pigs and Fireproof Women : Ricky Jay
Extraordinary Exhibitions : Ricky Jay
The Magician and the Cardsharp : Karl Johnson

I find these books(amongst others) greatly entertaining, and they are really easy to read.Giving you an impression of what it was like back in the golden days. They are great travel companions, because its almost as if your reading a novel,or story that you cant put down, and by the end of your journey you are dying to start on some new effects or sleight that these books have made you think about. There are loads more of them out there, i would suggest giving them a bash.
cheers

I second The Magician and the Cardsharp - it's an excellent book. I'm almost finished with it!

As someone else has recommended "Hiding the Elephant" is a very entertaining and easy read. I enjoyed it a lot.
