Just curious as this is a U.K. based magic site, how many of you have made it to the Castle here in Los Angeles or is it no big deal to those 'across the pond'? Or is it sort of a 'Mecca' that many aspire to visit one day?

I know the guy that owns it, he lives in my town. Only met him once, and I forget his name.

I plan on going next year with some friends.

It was my second home for years... (in the early 80s)
For our UK friends, I can assure you that this is something you would really enjoy if given the chance to visit it was the first Magic Only Private Club (as in Dinner Theater & Bar) on earth (I believe) and it's just plain beautiful in the old Victorian Mansion sort of way.
They really need to put a Virtual Tour on line for that joint.

Wow, I live 30 minutes away from Magic Castle and never even considered going there. My uncle was actually invited, went, and was offered guest passes, but then turned them down thinking that he'd never go back.
Darn, I wish he'd picked them up now

Btw, the link is:
http://www.magiccastle.com/
Its a pretty amazing place to visit here. It is possible to join as a magician or as an associate member with slightly limited restrictions. ie. no access to the vast magical library they have, etc. Lots and lots of history in this place. Dinner on the other hand, is fair to average and isn't cheap. But its still a nice evening for guests to have dinner and several shows. And there is no way to see every performance in 1 evening. You'l typically get 3 different shows to see in an evening.
Is there anything like it in the U.K.?

When I was on holiday in the area a few years ago I telephoned them and told them I was a magician and would there be any chance of a visit.
They were very obliging & showed me around during the day when no-one else was there & basically gave me a 1 to one private tour.
A very quaint place & looks like something off an old film set.
There are bits of the current magic circle building which remind me of the inside of the castle.
