Joker's Wild - GREAT IDEA! (I Think)

Postby magic_evmeister » Jul 10th, '06, 10:09

I was performing Joker's Wild for some of my Colleagues over the weekend and as usual they are quite wise to some of the tricks I do. However, for some reason I went through the normal routine and topped it off with something I'd never done before (that for some reason ocurred to me on the spot)...

After having the cards selected and controlled to the top they suspected some card controlling was going on (I expect nothing less from my usual Guinea Pigs). I continued the routine by reaching onto the table for the joker. CHANGE! First Card > CHANGE! Second Card > CHANGE! Back to Joker (as the routine is meant to go). Then as I leaned back over to the table to put the joker back down I used a classic pass as I moved back from the table finishing by saying "I don't know what happened to your cards but they ain't on top" and showed the top 5 or 6 cards to them. They were moderately entertained until I did this...after it they FLIPPED.

I'm thinking of routining my Joker's Wild to finish with the two cards face up in the deck. I think that'd be a really cool way to finish. I'll let you know how it goes.

Just thought I'd share this with you all. Thanks for reading.

Sounds like a great idea mate :D

If you're gonna throw in a classic pass at the end, you could always kiss pass the top 2, then classic pass. That way, you'd get your wish of having the 2 cards face up in the middle of the deck

PS: Just tried it now and getting them face up on the bottom takes less than a second...

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

Very nice idea - I have to go try that now!

I just found another way of reversing the cards that doesn't need a classic pass (because I can't do one to save my life!). It's intensely hard to explain but if I can get it to work I'll PM you.

Thanks guys. You'll have to try it out and let me know if it increases your reactions. For me the reactions increased tenfold!

It will increase the reactions to anyone that suspects how the trick is done (the changes).

Thats a good point, Mydas. But I'm sure many of us will often show tricks to those who as somewhat wiser than your average folk to what we do.

By the way...for those who have been watching this thread I've concocted a single sleight that willl do the two card reversal in the middle of the deck. Anyone who's interested PM me.

I like this Jokers Wild trick very much, easy to perform and great reactions (for my exp.).
I also added a alternate finish to stay clean at the end of the trick.
My way to stay clean at the end is to slip cut the choosen cards out of the "middle" of the deck ...i try to riffle down approx. the same amount of cards where i had "put" em into (usual 1/3 and then the middle of the deck).
So the illusion is given that it was alltime the joker :)
Try it !
