Google Selects Your Card

Effect:

You ask someone to select a card from the pack which they do. Then you have one or two goes at guessing it but you are wrong. Then you say, i know, "lets ask Google". You then proceed to bring up Google on your computer. All you do is type in "what is the card please" press the google image search button and Google comes up with pictures of their card. I tried this on people at work and they were absolutely floored by it. Of course when any non magician tries to duplciate it they don't get the answer but a search on the words "what is the card" as you would expect.

Secret:

You need some preperation before this trick happens. First, bookmark this page:

This is a fake version of google although it looks like the real thing.

Now get someone to select a card from your deck. You need to know the card so either force it or control it to the bottom and glimpse it during a shuffle. Have a guess at the card but get the wrong one and suggest that you "ask Google"

Bring up the fake google on your screen. You can clear the the URL display bar at the top beforehand if you want and type in www.google.com or just leave it how it is. (Most people don't notice, but to be safe just have it cleared).

Type into the search box /ad/ or /4c/ or /1s/ or /qh/ etc according to what their card is. These stand for ace of diamonds, four of clubs, 10 of spades, or queen of hearts etc. The cool thing is that the /ad/ etc won't appear in the box it will come out as "what". Now continue typing and you will have "what is the card please?"
Press search or enter and Google will perform a search on the card you typed in. An image will come up with pictures of the ace of diamonds. Cool huh? The image search doesn't work brilliantly with cards such as the 5 of spades so why not force a well known card like the queen of hearts? This is what you will see:

You can't see what you really type until you enter another /
