Bicycle Cards: The Black Deck

Postby Mikey.666 » Jul 28th, '06, 12:42

hey people.
i've just bought the black deck, from bicycle. it's a really good deck, however, it didn't come with instructions on how to use the extra cards.
has anyone used this deck, and can give me some tips, or knows a site with some tips on it? it would be a great help.

thanks.

There's an excellent Black Deck book available from http://www.nothingupmysleeve.co.uk - all original routines and superb value.

The NUMS book is for the Black Tiger deck - he's referring to the Black Deck that came out a short while ago - where the backs are white and the faces are black. It comes with a few extra gaffs. I'm not sure if that book would cover the gaffs included in the black deck.

The black deck book sold at NUMS is the same one sold at Ellusionist. It helps people perform effects with the Black Tiger Gaff Deck.

The Black Deck that i think is meant for discussion here is the same as at this site:

I must say i havent purchased this yet because i think it looks hideous. But im sure that someone who has can point you in the right direction.

thanks.
i've emailed the site to see if you can by the guide on it's own.

i must say tho. the decks extra cards look alot better on the demo then they do in real life, and i guess it helps when the performer has a total black background a clothes.

the colours are amazing tho, and do bounce out.

Isn't the Black Deck a MagicMakers bid to jump on the band wagon by producing a 'black' coloured deck to rival the Tigers?

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

I'm not convinced about these black decks. They remind me of blokes who go to work in black shirts to look now and hip but actually look like extras from Bugsy Malone.

Yes, that's exactly what the black deck was created to do. I don't think it hit the mark though. Black faces on white backs just don't really work well. Not to mention a reversed card sticks out like a sore thumb.

Of course - only MM can jump their own band wagon by following up with the release of the red, and then yellow decks which are identical except for the colour of course :? (same gimmick cards).

Glad to see that at least E haven't released red and yellow Tigers or blue and gold Ghosts
