Tally-Ho vs. Bicycle

Postby TylerD » Aug 1st, '06, 01:58

Ok I just wanted to get an idea from some of you which brand you like better. I myself like Tally's alot more and find myself performing with them on a regular basis. Bicycle's on the other hand I usually only use when practicing.

I think Tally's are better for performance while bikes are good for practice. So it's the same thing with me...:)

Thanks,

I like the design of the Tally Ho Globe backs.

Tallys are rather nicer imho but I still use Bikes - Costco doesn't sell Tallys at $15 a brick!

I always use bike Ghosts which have the same finish as Tally-Ho so its kinda the best of both worlds. I also much prefer the look of bikes compaired to Tally-Ho's but that is just my opinion.

How about a third 'never been able to tell the difference between one half-decent deck and another, especially after they've been in use for 20 minutes' option?

Can't get excited about back designs either.

I dont think anything beats Tally Ho fan backs in my opinion of corse. The design on the back is very detailed and nice looking, they last quite a bit longer then bikes, and they feel alot more smooth then Bikes do.

Easy to come, great quality, low price and "normal" design that everybody know so it don't look like a "Tricked deck", Bikes got my vote!

Hey I have a question. In the U.K are Tally Hos as popular as bikes there??? From what I heard (and my sources could be wrong) in most stores they are sold as much as Bikes.

Of corse here in Canada the only way to get them is in a magic store (sometimes even then its hard to find). So I order bulks over the internet at kardwell.

No - as far as I know none of the USPCC cards are at all well known here. The most common brand by far here is Waddingtons...

Really?!?! I did not know this at all. So does anyone know where Tally's are most popular?? Japan maybe haha jk. But they sure as hell arent popular here and they dont seem popullar in the U.K, and for U.S.A you can get them but they arent as easy to find as bikes. What els does that leave. I guess they are a specialty card.

In the UK USPCC cards are mainly used by magicians although Wal-Mart's UK subsidiary, ASDA, at one time had Bikes on sale in the booze and drinks area! Costco UK sell them in bricks but if anyone wanted to buy a deck of cards, Waddington's No.1 (Bridge size) would be the best known name yet there are probably hundreds of different brand cheapo decks on sale in newsagents, convenience stores, pound shops and chain stores. I've never seen Tallys on general sale over here. Some UK professional magicians use Waddington's cards and, with the current interest in Poker, I see the Poker sets of cards and chips on sale all include Poker size cards but no indication of the brand - probably low priced imports.

So are you saying most magicians in the U.K use bridge size cards??
And also you are lucky to use those lol although they may not be as good of quality as bikes or Tally's they have the 4 pips in which I would love to use because I am a left hander.

Most magicians use poker-sized cards, but practically no-one else does. I'd never seen a poker-sized deck until (on recommendation) I bought a couple to go with the Royal Road.
It's funny because in the US magicians seem to use poker Bikes because specs are used to seeing them all the time and they look normal. In the UK if you see someone with poker Bikes then it's 10-1 that they're a magician.

Charles has assessed it spot on! Some UK professional magicians use Waddington's Bridge size - Paul Daniels for one - but most seem to use Bike Poker size. Probably because gaffs etc are more widely available in that format?
