books of matches

Can you still get these anywhere???

I've found a very old but clever trick that requires a book of matches. But no one seems to sell them any more, I just get a strange look from the shopkeeper when asking for them.

Good question. Jay Sankey uses them a bit on a couple of his DVDs but I haven't seen them on sale for years. You still get them sometimes ata bar or in a hotel. The last time I had my hands on one was at the Moulin Rooge in Paris. (I probably only posted this so that I could name drop!)

To my knowledge, you've never been able to get 'books of matches' over the counter. The best places were nightclubs, or pubs. Or wedding stationers!

Your best bet is to write to a wedding company and ask for some samples of their match books.

Or just come out straight and ask if you can buy them blank!

I can still buy them here in my town, and most of the restaurants give them away as well.

I think lots of the resturants stopped giving them out a while ago when smoking in resturants stopped being the done thing. I'll try out some of those links, cheers guys.
