Lateral Demostration

Postby Scriptorilsky » Aug 3rd, '06, 12:24

So here's my Lateral Demonstration video. It's very compressed. I just love the move so I decided to make a short demonstration. Comments welcome.

edit: there's no soundtrack 'cause I want you to hear the snaps and stuff.

i love you!
it's nice to see someone putting a file up on here doing something that skillfull. what can i say? well done! you invisible deal is very nice, far superior to mine.
any critisism? hmm, hand position is the only thing i can think of a guess, for those occasional moments when having a card in tenkai forces you to hold a quite un-natural hand position, not sure if anyone has properly solved this problem though

Very nice. I have always had problems doing more than 2 or 3 cards in a row with the snap deal.

Very nice. I would only suggest to work on your hands a bit as they were in a few awkward positions here and there. But other than that, kudos!

Very nice indeed although as a couple of people have said your hand could look a bit more natural. Steals are very smooth though. Looks like magic.

Lawrence: It's lateral, not Tenkai.

Very well performed, looked very smooth and flawless :)
I would love to be able to do things like that, but, unfortunately, I have really small hands, which makes it very difficult :P
Anyway, very nice. Very well done.

WOW! Very well done. If I had a move like that down, I would be very proud of myself.

Thanks,

Thanks for the comments. I love the palm and the moves and it's the most usefull sleight in card magic that I know of (besides DL and some other basic sleights). It's not very hard to learn, it just seems that way because it's very visual. And as for the small hands, my hands are rather small too. If you can palm a poker sized card than you're ok.

Yes, it's lateral.

I know some of my hand moves are unnatural but this doesn't really points out in a live performance because the viewers are normally focused on the cards geing delt and not being there. It should a good thing to figure out the most natural moves for the lateral hold.

and I'm going to find out the difference, i hope. i'd just use tenkai, but that's just my style.

Steranko on Cards is the best written reference. It can't replace the Tenkai (fingers can't really be spread) but similarly it can be used in ways that are problematic for Tenkai. It is (as Mr Brown says) Lennart Green's favourite position(!).

well done...i also prefere this kind of palming...really cant be seen by the audience...and not only on a table...also in streetmagic it works great, for card slight or card steeling
