Welcome To My World

Tonight, 22:30, BBC3. From the Radio Times web site:

"Again this kooky documentary series unearths a rewarding slice of life, taking you from chortling schadenfreude to uplifting inspiration. Ian Franklin is the kindly but slightly ineffectual boss of an agency that supplies stand-up comedians to venues, mainly on the chicken-in-a-basket circuit: from Northampton to Chelmsford, what can go wrong at his gigs often does. His top comics, John Ryan and Rudi Lickwood, are tough to like at first. Their material isn't the subtlest, and they lose Franklin a contract by being 45 minutes late for a gig. But after a while their love of performing, even in trying circumstances, is infectious. Can they pull off Franklin's madcap scheme to put on a night at a multilingual pub in Prague?"

It might be an interesting glimpse into the business side of club entertainment, regardless of whether you're a magician or a comic. The only problem is that it clashes with Charlie Brooker's rather excellent Screen Wipe on BBC4.
