Two of my favorite tricks...

Postby GazJ83 » Jul 23rd, '06, 02:42

Here are two demonstrations I did today. I'm a professional film editor, hence some of the over-dramatic appearence but still, I hope you guys like em.

Any (positive) critisizm is appreciated :D

The Shapeshifter was fine, no complaints there

And yes, A Dream is also one of my favorite tricks, although I rarely use it because it's hard to get out of.

Someone REALLY sharp might notice something during your routine but it's incredibly hard to notice. Let me just say that you should throw down the aces and three indifferent cards into two distinct piles at the same time rather than overlap them.

And by the way, the music was nice (but it took a while to download, even on DSL)

Thanks for the advice.

It's not the music that's making the file download so large, it's the quality of the wmv. I didn't want it to be to difficult to make out like it would if the quality was less, but I can make it smaller if it's too much to wait for. Downloading the file by right-clicking would probably be quicker.

nicely done, I agree with the filesize though - if it takes longer to download than the actual length of the vid, its to big :D

The music for a a dream of aces was well timed with the effect, (if anything the handling in general could just be smoother) What was it? it reminded me of the end of the incredible hulk tv show!

Shapeshifter was cool to very dramatic :P

Shapeshifter was great. Nice job with the video too. It looked exactly like the demo on E.

Dreams Of Aces was spectacular. Very well done. The music was dead on for the reveal of the aces as well...Which was wildy cool.

Really long downloads though.

Thanks,

Thanks for the support guys - means a lot.

I'll work on those download sizes.

Dream of Aces - yeah I agree that the performance could be smoother. Something about getting it right on the take made me nervous lol

The other problem I had was that the music is for the Copperfield version of the trick (Grandpas Aces) which is actually longer than the one for the Dream of Aces so I was trying to mess about more with the cards to find time so it fitted with the track lol.

I'll and get a few more tricks filmed this week for some more feedback.

The shapeshifter was good although I wouldn't have slowed it down quite that much...

The Dream of Aces was really well done. I loved the music, the handling - everything! The only little glitch was that on the move with the Aces the tempo was all off and that directed me to the method. Apart from that, very well done!

Thanks for your support.

I always find it to be more difficult to pull a trick off to people who also knw how it's done or are in the same boat as it were so this is all pretty good critisizm. :D

Nice, but I have to agree that Shapeshifter was a bit slow. I'm not sure if I would feel that way if I didn't know the trick, but to me, the whole point of the effect is the impossible speed of the change. Just an opinion, though.

As for Dream of Aces. Hats off to you! Nice one.
