hi im phip or u can call me phill i posted a thread in the wrong place and they said introduce your self so i came here im young 13 and i live in the U.S.A i enjoy watching good magic and preforming some small tricks. but i hope to get much much better. The only thing is my dad thinks its stupid to buy tricks does any1 have a suggestion to get a way out of this? the first trick i want to get is IT i hear its good for begginers and u can always get better at it!

Hi Phil and welcome! Dads usually worry about what their kids are spending money on until they convince themselves that you can be trusted not to waste cash and make sound purchases.

Books (such as Mark Wilson's Complete Course) are usually a good way to get around this problem as most parents think that books are OK whereas tricks probably aren't. The fact that you can buy one book with 40 or 50 'tricks' in it (in terms of ideas and how to make props at home) means they're a good investment. If you need to generate some Brownie points then volunteer to do a few extra chores around the house and you might notice that your folks will be a little happier about your Magic purchases! Bottom line is that you don't need to spend a lot of money anyway, use household objects, make your own gaffs and gizmos - virtually no expense required !

Thanks for the advise i wonder if the library has any good magic books than it would be free! but how much is a magic book usually try to put it in $ plz i dont know how to convert pounds to dollars

Libraries are an excellent source - UK libraries will order books if they don't have them but not sure how the US system works. At the moment the $/£ exchange rate is well in our favour at about $1.80 equalling £1.
