Flash & Fire Effects

Postby Jordan C » Nov 19th, '03, 12:40

I like flash effects and after much pondering decided it best to start with a small effect and so bought Torn and Restored Flash Thread. The reactions I'm getting from friends etc has made me want to expand my Flash/Fire collection. The only thing is that because of the nature of Flash effects (potentially explosive etc) I would rather get good quality advice before bundling on and just buying any old tat!!

Are there any decent books/dvds/videos on creating your own flash effects?

What kind of effects would be recommended for high impact whilst remaining fairly simple to begin with?

Are there any websites/webstores specialising in Flash effects?

And of course anything else you think I should know regarding Flash Magic.

:?:  :?:

I haven't used any "Flash" effects yet - although it is on my list to experiment with. I can see it being very effective.

I do remember though seige did a good write up on Flash paper - that you may be interested in.

Flash Effects

There is a booklet available by Marc Spelman called A Little Extra Flash
its available from alakazam.co.uk.

A good effect that uses flash paper is In A Flash by Jay Sankey its really worth seeking out if you like flash effects.

Alakazam also sell a very good quality finger flasher which will last you a lifetime as opposed to the cheaper versions available on the market.

Pyro Perception also can be spiced up a bit using flash paper too.

Hope this helps

I couldn't find a reference on Alakazam for their finger flasher, but emagictricks do one for £11.95.

I don't have it and (so far) havent used one - so I cant comment on the quality.

emagictricks also seem to have a wide variety of Flash aper, cord, cotton etc - which I must admit is all cheaper than I thought it would be.
