Colour Deception

Postby Happy Toad » Oct 25th, '03, 18:35

Price: £19.99

From:http://www.magictricks.co.uk/prodshow.asp?code=86

Effect:
Colour Deception is a terrific little mystery. And, it truly defies detection. Two black and white poker chips are shown front and back and then under amazing circumstances change, going from black and white to four different colours! Everything is then handed out for examination.

Difficulty: 2/5 does need a little practice

Comments:
Very impressive close up trick, can do it as slow as you like, at the begining of the trick the way I do it, they are pretty sure they know how you are doing it as you simply make the black chip swap hands with the white chip and they pretty soon figure your just turning them over.

Then you very slowly pass the chips over one another and then again and before their eyes they change colour, then to completely baffle them turn them over and we have yet two more colours.

There is another version of this trick at emaicktricks for under a tenner. Not sure how it compares, maybe someone that knows could tell us?

Ah I looked in the review section but didn't think to look under brass, does a moderator want to delete this thread and add my review to the original one?

I think we can leave it for now - I'll have a look on Monday unless someone else has moved it before then. I must admit it's not always easy to spot earlier threads unless you're very specific on the search. (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!) Good trick, though!

This is still one of my favorite tricks - as it really is magic happening right in front of their eyes.

re- the index - theres no need to remove this, I'll just add another link in the index.

I think though that it is always wise to use the search tool regardless of the index as sometimes you can get a lot if useful information about the trick in question in some of the other forums too.

I have also noticed that there are another couple of tricks very similar to Colour Deception, one almost identical called Black and white, and one that has a slightly diferent routine called Traffic Chips.

I also have a tip when using Colour Deception that I will PM you.

I love Colour Deception because it is so visual and in the pass of a chip you see the spectators preconceptions simply disintegrate.

BANANAFISH - I'd be interested in hearing your tip, can you pm me too.

Panther - those plastic looking chips certainly appear like they work the same way as the nice (expensive) brass ones.

I doubt that they will stand up to the same level of scrutiny as the brass ones though - but at that price I suggest you give it a go. If you like that sort of magic, and it gives you the reactions you are looking for, then you can't lose - and you could always upgrade to the "good quality" ones later.

I certainly still get a lot of milage from my brass ones.

I am thinking about getting:
Vanishing Deck £4.00
Rainbow Chips £2.50
Cross On The Card £2.00
Pencil Through Borrowed Note £2.00

which comes to 10.50 + 3.00 p and p
so in total 13.50 for that lot.

Is that good?

Items came yesterday,
was very impressed because the delivery was quick (next day) and they sent a free trick!
They are good and the rainbow chips stand up to a fair amount of inspection and worth 2.50.
the vanishing deck is cardboard but I can fool a lot of people with it

my new fave trick

Postby juggling_guy » Jan 9th, '04, 17:57

i orderd this trick with the pena coin and was astonished at how simple the trick was although i did find the instructions a little hard to understand and had to find the secret out simply by messing around with the props untill it "happend" and when it did.... i nearly fainted it was so simple, quick and easy i could hardy wait untill i could show somone and they were just as shoked as i was, especially when both chips are turned over and the spec finds that the other side has changed too. but the best thing i have found about this trick is that you can hand them out for inspection and the spec can never ever ever found out how its done.

My new fave trick, amazing.
