Warped cards?

Postby Mark228 » Aug 19th, '06, 09:14

I bought some bicycle cards from ebay recently and they are warped. What I mean is that one corner is out of alignment with the other three corners so that when I place the deck on a table one corner is lifted off the table by a few millimeters. Has anyone else had this problem with Bicycle decks or have they just been stored incorrectly? What would cause this in an unopened pack, heat and damp?

p.s. The guy will replace them but is there any easy way of straightening them to save me some postage?

You can buy a card clamp, that will flatten out cards agian. I think cards4magic sell them, but they are quite expensive and I dont think they will do anything that a pile of heavy hard back books wont.

I may have had a few packs like these in the past, but I get through so many I dont really remember, another option and sounder investment is to buy yourself a card gaurd or porper clip. Basically a metal clamp style case to go around the edges of your cards. I always keep a deck on me in a card guard, and they do help to keep cards flat. They also keep a deck looking newer longer, and protect the case. Nothing worse than a dog eared case I dont think.

Hope this helps.

place the cards between a sandwich of kitchen paper (absorbent) and wedge them into a bookshelf between two books so there's even pressure.

The kitchen paper should draw out dampness (which may have caused the warp) and if you leave them long enough, they'll flatten out.

Or, just buy a new deck!
