I'd heartily recommend getting a shell or two. I've been resisting gimmicks for ages but I caved in and got a 10p shell t'other day. They're an amazing utility item, they've opened up the possibility to practice some great effects that I couldn't try out before.

Available just about everywhere.

I'd say www.penguinmagic.com is the best site for that type of stuff.

I prefer Tango to be fair. We used to stock them for the business and if I had the choice of any coins... quality for value is definately hands down for Tango. Dare I say it "SOME" of his work is even better than schoolcraft and Gibson.

Bob Swadling also crafts some very nice coins. Double Deception is very good.

Of course if it is Torn Coins, Bitten Coins, Bent Coins and Soft Coins we are talking about.... I definately recommend Scotty Watson

Uk Flipper Coins / Shells

Postby The Last Deck on the Left » May 14th, '08, 12:51

Hi there,

I've recently heard that Tango also make what some consider to be the best flipper coins, however I'd like them in uk sterling - I was thinking of getting a £2 coin flipper and £2 shell.

Any advice where to go for the best quality of uk coins. I looked at some excellent Bob Swadling ones at Blackpool this year, but I can't seem to find his web site - could someone let me know it please?

I've just been Googling it and have had no luck - can you only buy his coins through other dealers?? - if so, can someone recommend a good place to buy his coins from?

Thanks,

Merlins do a good range of gimmick coins, not all of which they have on their website so it's highly recommended you either give them a call or pay a visit.

Their magna-lok coins (coin unique) are very good quality. My best purchase recently from them was an expanded hopping halves set. You get 2 shells with this, an expanded 2p and expanded 10p, and it's a only £5 more than the regular. Made by Tango which surprised me but if the quality's there, I'm not bothered!

I say get Johnson stuff. And if you're using a shell, a friend of mine says stick with heads-up shell, not tails. I'm just mister helpful today.
