Hmmm....several points to make so let me get started :) Please don't take them the wrong way, I'm not trying to be harsh.

If you don't know what a swing cut is you are probably just starting in magic. If that is so I would leave off purchasing 'ready-made' tricks like Strangers' Gallery. You should be able to entertain people easily with a borrowed pack of cards before you start to move on to tricks like Strangers' Gallery. Otherwise you will end up putting yourself into awkward situations because you are limited to only the effects you have bought.

May I make my stock recommendation for beginners? Have a look at the DVD linked in my signature, Born to Perform. It contains all the stock moves you will need to perform with a pack of cards and once you've mastered them you will be a much better magician?

Sorry again if I sound harsh, I don't mean to.

Kati

EDIT: It's too hard for me to explain what a swing cut is in words without you knowing other basic terminology (Biddle Grip etc...) so I'll just stick to my recommendation of Born To Perform - which incidentally does have the swing cut.

In hibernation but half awake - will stick my nose in every so often!

hi,
A swing cut is just a flashy single cut, a ordinary cut will work just as well for now.
I have got strangers Gallery but I have not even onpened it. Forgive me if I am wrong but I believe you need to be able to do an Elmsley count ?.
If that is the case then the DVD kat suggested also covers that.
Buy it you wont regret it.
There is also four very good tricks on there three of which you could do with a borrowed deck and a bit of pratice.
