If you saw someone move the title on a book you would ntice the title as it is the thing that is being moved. So YES you would notice the mark and what it is.

But if it's what I'm thinking of they won't be comparing the two, and quite an interesting and naturally-occuring psychological phenomenon would help things along too .

I know the best thing to do is wait and buy it and see if anyone notices after preformance.

Best way to go about it. But I know that the chances of anyone noticing are very slim, from my research in to a certain side of things.

yes, you will notice it quite a lot, since you know whats going on. but think back, last time you gave the man behind the counter a 1 dollar bill, what letter was on it? no lay person would pay this amount of attention if they were just casually handing something over.
it's the same kind of principal as getting away with a riffle force, if you're watching for it it blatently obvious (most of the time) but if you don't know what's coming you'd never see it!
