Somebody I know went to Vegas and tried to get me a signed photo of David Copperfield but he apparently doesn't sign autographs so instead she got me a personalised autograph from Lance Burton.

I'm quite pleased :D

Cheers,

A lot of celebs are teed off that their autographed material is just being touted around by dealers and opportunists who acquire material in bulk for onward sale. At Memorabilia shows in the UK many celebs signing things will charge £5 a time, even if it's in your own autograph book, programme or whatever. It may seem a bit mercenary but there are a lot of dealers making a tidy living from these signed scraps of paper. Fortunately there are still some celebs who will sign things for free but it's no longer the norm to expect such freebies, sadly.

a picture is much better than an autograph. Obviously if you arent there, you cant get a picture of you and the celeb.. but i've met a few bands and musicians and they nearly always pose for photo's. Although all the ones I got photo's with, I also got autographs too :D

Andrew WK signed my ticket and wrote a personal message to me, he did with my mate too.. he actually did it with everyone! He was outside signing tickets and stuff for about 3 hours.. what a guy! :D

David used to sit outside the show room after the shows and sign hundreds of photos but, there were some "uncomfortable" situations that croped up on a few ocassions e.g. he's had to stop doing the signing as a matter of personal safety...

David will sign autographs in special settings. His is a very unique signature, recognized by the good folks at Ripley's as the most horrid scraw of any celebrity in history...

...when derren brown first had his website up, i cheekily e-mailed and asked for an autograph...i got a little envelope after a week and there was a nice 7x5" colour photo and signed too (not printed on)...well impressed by that i was...

and not magic related, but one of my best mates was having a very tough time and was off with depression, so i wrote to Arsenal (non-uk people, a top-flight football club) asking if i gave money to a charity or whatever could they send a photo or something - and within two days my mate got an autographed photo of dennis berkamp and a personal letter from the club too...

The only signature that i have is a signed video case from Lee Asher when i ordered the Asher Twist dvd. 'To Rich. Happy New Year 2006. Lee Asher'. Was well impressed, i didnt even ask for it!

If you email celebrities, or send them a letter, are they more willing to send you an autograph than if you just meet them somewhere? Was thinking of trying to get my Black Ghost deck signed by loads of famous magicians!

I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...

The only autographs I own are on hockey cards. I have over 70 autographed cards that I got by mailing them to the players!

I got a signed photo of green day before they went mainstream by writing to their record company and asking for one
