Impromptu Aga Levitation?

Postby Bardish » Sep 6th, '06, 00:17

I'm not a magician. I can't make a coin disappear. I can't divine your choosen card. I can't pull a rabbit from a hat. I'm curious. I am purely interested in levitation.

What first interested me in levitation was a video I saw of a Japanese gentlemen walking the streets of some business district, drawing a pentagram on the ground and performing a levitation within it. I thought, neato! I want to do that!

Alas, information on aga levitation seems to be restricted to a costly stage prop. Is it really possible to do an aga levitation impromptu as in the video? Or is the video staged?

I think I know the video you are referring to. That is a TV show with a big budget. Although it may appear as if it is impromptu, it is likely that there is a very expensive set up. I don't know much about levitations, but I don't think you will be able to find a levitation like that, that you can perform anywhere.

I think you might be referring to Cyril, I believe that he did something like this.

I didn't think it was possible, but I was hopeful. :D

The video is here: (warning: adult site)

I actually have no idea how aga levitations work. All I know is that they use expensive stage props that are definitely not impromptu (cranks and platforms and wires and c*** (not the best) like that).

I'm working on self levitation because it is pretty impromptu and neato. The Balducci and Kings. I'm working on the gaff for Criss Angel's right now.

What other levitation techniques are there? What is the Wild?

Is all object levitation done using magnets and IT? Any other techniques?

you cant ask us to reveal methods..well, you can ask, but we'll tell you to clear off...

its purely down to you trawling the reviews section for clues, and then going out and buying the secret...you wont get it for nothing..or if you do, it will probably be wrong...

I've got a lovely £10 note levitation that I use. You can borrow any note (but I find £10 works best), levitate it a couple of inches above your hand and then hand it back afterwards. Very powerful and effective, but I can't remember the name of it or what book I got it from.

If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

What other levitation techniques are there?

I use telekinesis myself. Only really any good on lightweight items though (notes, sponge balls etc).

One plus point of this levitation method is that everything is examinable afterwards (except your brain of course!).

Well, the AGA styled levi is anything but impromptu and like its cousins THE LIGHTER THAN AIR and GOMALO it's a rather impractical piece for anything other than a "staged & controlled" performance.

Yes, it is possible to do something akin to what you see in the video IF things have been pre-arranged... I don't think that's the case here, I believe an alternate method is afoot. If you want to see an actual "through the stage" aga type unit at work you'll need to find footage of the late Barclay Shaw doing his levitation on the old show THAT'S INCREDIBLE then you'll see the difference between what is done in this tape and how the original idea was created.

Am I the only one to find the title of this thread slightly amusing? How impromptu could doing something with a hulking great cast iron cooking range be?

Just picture the scene, you're down the pub having a few drinks, everyone's in a nice receptive mood and you decide to do some magic to entertain them but have grown tired of the usual cards/coins/pub tricks stuff. 'OK, time for a bit of fun, does anyone have a spare AGA on their person? Anyone? Please? No? OK, I guess I'll just go and get the darts then.'

What intrigues me is how a person that call himself a non magician, and says he don't even know how to vanish a coin, knows what aga levitation is, knows its done on stage, but is clueless to how it works so much that he think such a thing can be done impromptu.

Oh yeah and Criss Angel did a similar levitation to the one Cyril did on Mindfreak, don't know if by the same method, looked the same any way.

Actually due to the fact that my anti gravity machine uses a black hole to power it, I can in fact carry an AGA around with me using my patented anti-blackhole gloves I can reach in and retrieve it at any given time using just a tad of misdirection e.g. LOOK OVER THERE AN ALBATROSS!!! and walla instant AGA though I have to be careful not to suck the palce into the singularity, I really hate it when that happens its takes me forever to put hings back.
