Coins

Right. My card work is coming along nicely and im saving up for card college. I have some othe effects that are what you might describe as micellaneous tricks but my coin work is really annoying me.
The material i have with coins in is On the Spot, Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic and Bobo's book, Bobo's book is good but i find it a little out dated (for a 15 year old). Also, when i see a card trick i have enough knowledge now to have some idea how it is done. Coins, i don't. There are vanishes where both hands are shown, short sleeved - then the coin is reproduced.

I am planning to buy Revolutionary Coin Magic. I was wondering, is ther a sort of card college equivilent for coins?

Cheers,

Pitto

The books by Richard Kaufmann and David Roth are supposed to be excellent.
Although Bobo is the nearest you'll get to a Coin Bible.

And if you get "Revolutionary Coin Magic" you'll have enough material to work on for the next decade at least!!

Serriously, take another look though Bobo's. Forse yourself to learn a few effects. There is a ton of valuably information in there that doesn't involve gimmicks or sleaving.

I was just about to say the exact same thing. I have all three and they are all excellent. The Roth and Kaufmann books are newer and may be easier to read.

At first glance it does appear as though a lot of the tricks in Bobo involve sleeving or gimmicks, but there is plenty of strong material that doesn't. Also, much of the sleeving is done to give a cleaner effect so with some thought to the routine you can get around it.

Definitley get Revolutionary Coin Magic as well it's a masterpiece. The better you get with coins the more you'll get out of it as there's such a range of material, just like Bobo.

A lot of coin magic involves sleaving or gimmicks. Also, lapping and coin boxes are popular (i.e. Okito). You can do quite a bit without boxes, sleaving or gimmicks (I only use those so I will know about them, I do not perform with them).
