Hi, I live in Cardiff and the nearest store (i think) is in Bournemouth!!

Never been there but i found it here http://www.ipswichmagicalsociety.co.uk/linshopuk.htm

There is a Cardiff Magic Society though, (which i've not yet joined), which you can contact on 02920 777321

Hope that helps :D

can i assume you're american rattlestar? it's a common thought that london is "just round the corner" from pretty much any other city in britain but us native folk never seem to think that way; guess that's what we get from living in such a smaller country. a little looking around on search engines should find you a magic shop a lot closer.
although do go to london at some point: take in a show, watch a mime at covent gardens, feed some pigeons, go to davenports (you'll hear that a few times), go on that big wheel thingy they have and visit pubs!

Yes I think that Mike Danata's Magic Studio is the closest magic shop to Cardiff.

I went there and it was brilliant, from the outside it looks like an old deserted and closed down shop, but inside the cramped little space was loads and lodsa of magic.

In fact there would have been much more room if they wasn't all the magic scattered all over the place, most glass display cupboards in magic shops have the few items arranged neatly, In Mike's shop his cupboards are bursting full of magic.

You could basically name an effect and he will have it or something similar, plus Mike is a very nice guy, demonstrates a lot of stuff too.

I would highly reccomend going to Boscombe in Bournemouth for a break down at the seaside, its a nice place, just get 1 or 2 nights at the travel inn for cheap, and visit Mike's shop. :D

Bournemouth seems a very long way away from Cardiff - wouldn't House of Magic ( http://www.houseofmagicuk.com/Customer_Default.asp ) be easier to get to? Wouldn't the London shops be nearer than Bournemouth?

HoM is much closer to Cardiff and John who runs it is also a nice guy. You used to see him on the boards here regularly at one time.

However, I'd still recommend a trip down to Bournemouth and echo what Tom has said. Mike's studio must be one of, if not THE best stocked shop in the country!
