I hope this isn't getting into the realms of practical jokes but I am interested in the idea of using exploding cigarettes. I like to do magic in pubs and I think exploding cigarettes could be a good ice breaker!

I was thinking... could maybe wrap flash paper around a cigarette? Or roll a cigarette using flash paper? I wouldn't make the whole thing out of flash paper, maybe just half or two thirds, then use normal cigarette papers.

I don't want to burn my nose off so if I do try this I will hold the cig away from my face first and see how it goes.

Am also interested if there is some kind of powder you could put inside a cigarette that would make it spark or sparkle!

Finally, was wondering if you can print on flash paper or would it ignite in the printer? I have a laser printer. Printers can get very hot. I don't suggest anyone try this - I certainly won't without expert advise. Does anyone know anything about it?

I don't intend to try anything dangerous and I'm not encouraging other people to do the same!

Well first of all, you need to be very careful with cigarettes, this could be very dangerous. Flash powder / sparkle additive is used to perform sparks but i would not suggest you add this to cigarettes.

You can print on flash paper if you are careful, there is some new flash paper out soon that is 100g computer printable.

Thanks for the reply. Dangerous in any particular way? Surely the worst thing that can happen is that all of the tobacco catches fire. In which case it could fall on the floor, so would have to do it out of doors or in a very spacious pub with a stone floor and not many people nearby.

In my mind, the paper just burns away and the tobacco is not burnt, and just hangs in the air for a few seconds before crumbling to the floor!

just watch you face though when you do it, practise with a small amount. If you want a fire then check out volcanic match

Criss Angel did a routine with a cigarette and it started with him rolling a cigarette and putting some tobacco in and then lighting it then the paper disappeared and left a fully rolled up cigarette. Would be a good thing to do if you're a smoker next time you go for a cigarette break and its not too hard to figure out.

I don't smoke though, I just light the cigarette and make it vanish in the palm of my hand. Used to do the version where you put it in your t-shirt but it seems wimpy...

Something else to note - may be a little dangerous to inhale the sparkle fumes? Putting it into a cigarette may make it dangerous (even moreso).

Something you may wish to look into if giving someone a ciggy packed full of explosives and what-not
