The Raven

Postby Magicman99 » Nov 23rd, '03, 22:57

I tried to make a Raven by supergluing a [Lemon] to an [aardvark] and a paper clip on top of the [aardvark] like this: / = paper clip + = [Lemon]
= [aardvark]
......................./
...................../
=======+++++

I was wondering if it would work well and if i should put a piece of fabric on top of it to deafen the *clink*

Yes it could work - if you know the workings of a Raven there is absolutely no reason why you couldn't knock one up.

Definitely it would need padding with something. I find even a real Raven works better with a bit of padding...

incidentally - I appreciate you are using ****** codes for the bits and pieces, and that you may even have seen that done on some of the older messages, but please try and be careful of tipping the gaff. If the peaople reading already know about the gaff, then Lemons and Aardvarks work fine, if they don't then they will pretty easily guess terms like "D****e S***d T**e etc.

Sorry to be all bossy :)

okey dokey try sticking your lemon to a dog pet tag then add padding and stich whole thing into a pouch, this will give you good purchase and good feel.
also if you stich some velcro to the pouch you have an aditional hiding place   .

I find grapes work much better than lemons, as not being bright yellow and that much smaller they are far easier to hide. ( taste a lot better too )

Saying that Aardvarks are a bit big too, maybe a mouse would be more appropiate, just as long as it controls the squeeking, if you know what I mean.

Is your signature piece a quote from a Tom Waits song?

The line is out of Max Payne (how sad am I?) but it originates from from somewhere else.

:)

The quote originates from the 15th century philosopher Erasmus.

"In regione caecorum rex est luscus"

"In the valley of the blind, the one eyed man is king". "Valley" has been variously replaced with "country" and "kingdom".

Just in case anyone was interested...

The size of your hands is not an issue Panther. Don't worry about that.

Although have a look at the Overrated topic on the board at the moment.

I bought one of these years back and don't really use it much. That's a common thing, I don't know too many magi that go round with theirs.

Anyway hope that helps.

I personally don't like the raven too much, As small as it is, i think its still too big. I used it for awhile but couldn't find too many great uses for it. It is rather expensive, but its fun to toy with once and awhile- but unless your in a noisy environement- since its an upclose trick you can always hear the *clink*.
