I would really like to know if this is a trick. I was sitting in the car the other day and I did it, and thought how corny it was.

I am wondering whether there is a better one where you can actually switch the cards and make it disappear (well the illusion)

er... yes it is a trick
and we don't do exposure on here so no one will actually tell you how to do any tricks. but you will get told to go and read Royal Road To Card Magic. you'll learn how to do a few things like that in there.

Any idea what the trick itself is called, so I can see it done properly

hunt Colour Changes and you'll find lots of things like that.
that one just look like a classic colour change, although i guess it depends on your method

Well that video is one of me, I find the method that I did a very dodgy one. I love the simplicity of it and have been trying to find some other ones. I found a compilation of them on YouTube, pretty sweet ones on that.
