Hello and Bonjour

Postby illusionize » Sep 15th, '06, 10:01

Hello and Bonjour!

Well let me tell you a little about myself to start off with :)

My name is Ben and I live in Australia. I enjoy playing computer games (Recently hooked on top spin), I like to play basketball and table tennis.

I love magic tricks, specifically card tricks and would love to meet a few more budding enthusiastic magicians :)

The reason I am here is that when I created my card site, I noticed I was not going to be able to do this all my own, as I am new to magic and I was gonna need some help, so I searched magic trick forums and here I am :)

Hello. Can I ask if you intend to host more tutorials on your site?

The lack of tutorials is bad on my part, I have been trying to learn card tricks at a rapid pace, but have found out how long some of you guys have taken to get so good.

I was also sending some PM's to people on YouTube but they all ended up just shunning me and not replying, oh well, my money could go elsewhere :)

Sorry about the self advertisement, but I had to clear that up :)

Are you going to put up more tutorials of tricks as you learn them?

Yeah that is what I looking at doing, I was going to pay some people to make some tricks to build up some tricks, but it seems there is nobody on YouTube who will accept money, but I am not about to go and take someone's movie, I want unique ones.

In general people on this site (myself included) are anti-exposure. That is we do not agree in exposing the methods behind our effects, regardless of wether we have developed them independantly or aquired them from another magician.

I fear you will not get much help here with your exposure site.

Can I get something straight in my mind here, because I'm still a little confused about what you're doing. Am I right in saying that if, say, you buy a trick you'll put up a tutorial on how to do it, or pay others to make videos showing how to do those you don't own?

No, you have it all wrong. I will be searching through YouTube and other trick revealing places. Then when I see a trick that I think I could do, I will learn it and then create an original so as to not steal content.

But if you're not coming up with the original ideas, isn't that still stealing? All you'd be doing is basically re-shooting them and pretending they're your own. Is that not what it is?
