The Green Man - Soho, London

Postby IAIN » Aug 22nd, '06, 09:26

Just wondering if anyone has ever organised anything for us London types (and others obviously) to meet up in The Green Man in Soho, bearing in mind it might be a rubbish pub...at least it would be quite nice to meet up in the same pub that founded The Magic Circle...

...just a thought!

The Green Man is a bit of a dive to be honest. It also gets very rowdy and packed out.

Best bet is to speak to other pubs/bars in the area to see if they have a venue room. Most will accomodate for 20+ people.

Up for this too.
Could always meet up elsewhere and go past the green man at some point. If it doesn't look too bad we can always go in for a couple there.

Are you guys aware that there was a puzzle evening every 1st Wednesday of the month in camden town? It is in a pub called the lock. About 2 years ago quite a few magicians were joining, and it became a puzzle and magic evening...
However, now, I dunno if there are still magicians. Jerry Sadovitz used to go there every week, but he never showed anything (to my disappointment, as I have never seen him performed, and I would have enjoyed seeing a couple of trick from him)...

No, not heard of that. If it's still going it could be a place to start. Central London isn't far from there if it's not much cop.....or we feel the need to go on a major bender!

might be worth a punt...i used to go to The Lock years ago...used to kinda be a comedy club didn't it?!

not stepped foot in Camden for ages though...

If i get time one lunch...er time, i'll pop my beak into The Green Man, see what's what...

ultimately, i thought it would be nice to maybe arrange a monthly get-together somewhere near; you never know where it might lead to....(apart from other boozers)...

Sounds like you guys are well on the way to organising a booze cruise around the Smoke - have fun and try to remember enough about it to let the rest of us know what you got up to.

i was thinking about 2pm one Friday - quick bit of booze, then break out the cards and whatever else then find a nook or cranny - failing that, a crook and a nanny...

ultimately though, it would be nice to try and set up something small and low-key but regular...see what happens...
