Hello from a juggler thats new to magic.

Postby samcat » Sep 18th, '06, 21:17

HELLO!

Just recently started learning card magic, bought myself a copy of The Royal Road to Card Magic and a few packs of bicycle cards and am starting from there..

Been a ball juggler for many years now, can juggle 5 balls fairly well, and 3 balls I can make them dance, A lot of the far more complex patterns I can do with ease, including juggling blindfolder (or a bucket over my head, people believe in buckets more than blindfolds)

Just recently did my first performance for someone that I didnt know, at a local bands gig was just with a friend and he prompted me to do magic for a young (about 15-16) year old lady... Did the only trick I am really comfortable with so far, Here then there... She was a little gobsmacked to say the least :) Great reaction, I simply said nothing, grinned and walked away. Great buzz!

Been practicing a bit of XCM too, can do a whole host of charliers, double charliers, one handed shuffles etc (all in both hands at the same time).

My real name is Sam (Male) and I live just north of Bristol in the UK.

Anyway, thought I would say Hi as I have been floating around reading lots on the forums for the last month or so.

Cheers,
Sam C

And that is a brilliant start. Good choice.

There are a few other juggling/circus/magicians on this forum so you will fit in nicely.

Big welcome from me :D

HELLO!!
were you at Brizzle a little bit ago then? i missed that one unfortunatly
i too am a juggler/magician.
Now, Mr Sam, you're going to hear me tell you on numerous occasions that you need to go and learn to contact juggle, as it is the only form of juggling that truely looks magical, so if you can just start now it would be a great help

WELCOME!
i've been trying to get 5 balls down, and just can't seem to get it, learning 3 ball snakes this week

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

:D

Contact juggling is great, unfortunatly I only have time to learn a few things, and along with the diablo and cards I dont have the time to learn it as well as I would like.

As for juggling looking magical, you havent seen a colour changing (I have a set of globall pro's) 3 ball mills mess or burks barrage ;) Looks super nice when done right.

Did Here then there for my boss at work tonight, followed by probably the nicest shapeshifter I have done so far with the same 2 cards... He was a stunned... Very happy with that!

Thanks for all the hello's everyone :D

Cya,
Sam C

globalls pro's? how much did they put you back then!? woooo. i know someone who forked out £180 for 2 to make a set of glow poi, and they wern't even in the same colour. you must have some nice timing if you can pull that off then, good work.
on that note, i'd probably kill for an aerotech pro staff! (have you seen the kind of things you can do with those? sheeeesh)

These sort of alternative skills have always interested me from a fairly young age, just something about them clicks with me.. With my whole family actually. I got my dad started on juggling, brother is a king with a diablo and a lot of my friends are now into these sort of circus skills... Summers great when everyones out, sat in a park playing with various toys :)

Will have to try and get a video of some of the juggling, need to setup a camera so I can watch myself perform magic too... Watch this space.

One other favourite of mine is juggling bouncing balls off the floor... Can do 5 at the same time, looks really nice again.

Sam C
