hello people, this is my first post and hope i can get some help, i have 2 little children,, and i also work with children,,,,the other day as i past a toy shop i noticed a cheeky little puppet in the window and i had to buy her, i thought about how i could entertain my children and the children i work with, can anyone in the here help me with tips or where to find help etc,,,i have looked aroound and some of the dvd's are too expensive for me to buy, as i am on limited earnings,,,,any help or tips would be appreciated,,,even if i could get pointed in the right direction

Great to hear that you have caught the vent. bug!

Ventriloquism needs that moivation in order to be able to master it.

Also great to hear ytou are using it for children. The two mix SOOO well!

I'd highly reccomend a video by Liz vonseggen. I dont think i can remember the price but if you dont buy another video on vent for a long time, i strongly reccomend you get her video on learning the vent alphabet.

I can PM you the substitutions to replace letters and roughly how to do them but its alot easier when you see someone close up showing you the letters.

To leave you with a bit of motivation,

i bet you are already 95% a ventriloquist!!

Try saying through the alphabet in front of a mirror, missing out B,F,M,P,Q,V

I realize this post was done about a year ago, but in case you are still around and still practiciing ventriloquism, here are, in my opinion, the four best books.

1. Ventriloquism by Olin (a must have but rather expensive, yet, totally worth it in my opinion)

2. How to become a Ventriloquist by Bergen (the classic of classics)

3. The Key to ventriloquism by Winchell (a wonderful book that shows a lot about making vent figures which is oh so fun)

4. Practical ventriloquism by Ganthony (this one is rather dated as far as language and slang to but it has wonderful stuff on sound effects).

I love ventriloquism and have a truly unique act with my soon to arrive home from her travels, vent figure Lily. She is a soft 3 foot tall puppet not unlike a muppet actually, in fact, I think she and Kermit would have had fun hanging out in the swamp. She actually looks like me with blue eyes (they move), two long blonde ponytails, a surfer's tan, a moveable arm, and California surfer girl breasts. I'll bet you're having a blast with your puppet. I'm so happy you entered the vent world.
