Fake Criss Angel DVDs on Ebay

Postby Dirty Davey » Sep 19th, '06, 10:28

Just a word of warning....

I bought the Criss Angel, Sinful DVD from ebay got it through the post. Opened it up and found that it was a copy.

Emailed the seller and he agreed a refund so all were happy. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, he might have bought it in good faith.

But just been looking on ebay and what do I see, the same guy selling more Criss Angel DVDs. Are they genuine, I very much doubt it.

So anyone thinking of buying from ebay, becareful!

We keep saying the same thing every time someone gets ripped off and posts about it on TM - the likelihood of being sold an illegal copy is also one of the main reasons we don't permit sales of DVDs, Videos etc on TM.

I've never used the e-bay 'service' and I doubt I ever will, far too risky by the looks of it! Thanks for the information though, all very useful for those who trade regularly on e-bay, pleased to hear you managed to get the situation sorted.

I think I got a fake Criss Angel levitation dvd off ebay as the back of the disc looks different than the back to the sinful dvd - the sinful dvd (which I bought off ebay as well) is silver and the levitation dvd is orange like those recordable dvds you get in a spool from pc world.
Also the inlay card to the dvd seems harder (like it was printed off a computer) than the other one which is glossier if you know what I mean. It still plays fine though

Misanthropy, easy way to tell if it's a fake, lick your finger and rub it on the cover inlay. If some of the ink comes off onto your finger, it's a fake.

PM the name of the seller, it'd be interesting to know if it's the same guy who sold me my disk.

Fakes on Ebay

Postby xenon_touchstone » Sep 21st, '06, 13:16

Sorry to hear about some of the bad experiences some of you have had buying off Ebay, I use it quite a lot for various things from new decks, to clothing, to that missing key from the wardrobe(yep, I even found someone who had a similar wardrobe and spare key).
As long as a little care is taken, checking their feedback, asking other customers what the service was like, and never using cash, cheques, etc, then it should be no less safe than most online services.
I've sold a lot of my magic bits and pieces on there( old tricks, books, etc) and have found some great bargains too.
Have any of you informed Ebay about the 'fakes' you've bought? If they dont know, they cant do much.

A list of items Ebay frowns upon can be found here http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/items-ov.html
