In that case, please pop along to the introductions forum and tell us about yourself, level of magic, etc.

To be fair the reviews didnt say why they had a problem with magic makers inc they simply assumed we would all agree that they werent a good company.

The review I was reading was for 'show off with cards' which is a dvd I bought and thought was very good.
I understand if someone has had a bad experience when dealing with a company they might not want to use them again but its not fair to just assume no one should buy from them because of it.
If they were reffering to their products not being good then they should say so and also explain why.

I've put an introduction post on that forum now aswell. :D

They've been selling magician's products without giving them any credit or money. They simply change the name or the cards. Just like "Showoff with cards", many moves are found by the others, and they also teach them badly. They even "steal" Lee Asher's Asher Twist, and released Ghost Kings; which is Lee Asher trying to get rid off. http://www.leeasher.com/trade.htm

Quite a lot of products here are by Magic Makers, it tells you the original maker and when.

It wasn't until the other week, when I realised that the original jacket levitation was in fact created by Paul Harris in the 70's, known as "Sooperman Levitation".
Since then, the effect has been copied and resold as several other names, without any credit to Paul.

Yes they have a very bad rep for making copies of well known effects, but to to be fair to them, some of the brass magic they do is very good.

The thing that makes this Magic Makers problem all the worse is the fact that it had the link with PenguinMagic.

PenguinMagic has lots of younger magicians buying there, and unless they have been lectured on the subject, they are most likely going to buy the cheaper Magic Makers version of the product.

But as Stephen said, some of their items are good, and some of them are unique or original. Just try to find some backround on the item you are buying from them.
