Beautiful job. I am not normally a fan of David Copperfield but that was indeed a work of art.

I beleive the trick is called Legacy?! Someone please correct me if I am wrong......it is a great effect and has been done a number of times on TV specials, etc, don't be fooled by the whole grandfather's wish and promise routine...

When I first watched the TV special that the clip was from, I decided I just had to put that trick into my routine.......I worked on it the handling for quite some time, only to realize I was practicing a trick that had little value in an everday close-up performance. It is ideally suited for the stage performance he did it in.....I did manage to find a reasonable alternative that can work in a close up setting.....called "MacDonalds $100-four ace trick"

It wasn't the trick so much as the presentation of it with the music etc;
Funnily enough the idea of the big screen is not new. Nate Leipzig used it decades ago.

As for Mc'Donalds Aces that is probably the strongest trick you can do for laymen even rivalling Out of this World. People think it was invented by Mac Macdonald who only had one arm. He did the trick but he certainly didn't invent it. It shouldn't be called MacDonald's Aces at all.

Who did invent it? Hofzinser in the century before last. He called it "The Power of Faith" Proving the old stuff is often the best.

Actually, this is David's handling of Gary Ouellet's Dream of Aces. Always an amazingly powerful effect. What I liked in particular about this version is that the ace just vanishes, rather than the appearance of an indifferent card.

This is the Gary Ouellet's routine with the shotgun aces at the beginning. Anyone know a version of Dream of ace that can be learn, that teach how to make the aces vanishes?

Absolutely amazing. Imagine that stripped down without the story about his grandpa, about how he was ten years old when he learnt it, and without the provocative musical piece, which the effect was in time with.

It's merely just a card trick. A 1 minute card trick at that. With the right creativity behind it, it's an amazing piece of theatre invoking all sorts of emotions and reactions.

Amazing.

Don't get me wrong, it is a great presentation done by a world-class magician. As far as the ace outright disappearing rather than an onother card replacing it.....easily done when one thinks about the type of vanish used and what could aid in its dissapearance......
