Greatest Card Effects Of All Time

Postby Mikey.666 » Oct 1st, '06, 13:55

yo peeps.

every night, i browse the good old net in search for card tricks. just crad tricks that blow my mind and that i can't figure out. i love it, knowing there are still some effects that i can't figure out.

so i was wondering.
what would you say are the greatest card effects ever?
gaffs, sleights, it doesn't matter. :)

i think the jumping gemini is amazing, and hot something something. hot mama is it? where the card changes colour? placed on the table, and it tuurns to the second card?
sorry, but im a bit hungover from last night. :)

hungover? arn't you like 14 or something??

if you like red hot mama then by Red Vs Blue when it comes out [/plug]

i still think an ACR can be an amazing routine, whether you can see it or not, it's all about the presentation! look up invisible palms, there's some amazing versions of it out there

Hey Lawrence - any chance you can give some more details on what Red vs. Blue is all about?

Lately, I have been using (and endlessly testing) my own card effect creations, but some of my favorite card effects to perform are:

Jumping Gemini - amazing effect
Beyond Fabulous
The Eye of Stonehenge (It's long, but it's fun to perform)
ACR

These are old but try to find Immaculate Connection and Cardboard Chameleons. Both excellent effects from the '80s.

I really like the Invisible Palm. At least I think that's what it's called. Basically the one where cards appear to fly from one hand to the other invisibly. Always gets a good response ;)
I think the one you mentioned is Red Hot Mamacita (or something similar), it's one I saw on the Daniel Garcia Project, although I'm pretty sure there are a few versions of it out there.

There are many card tricks that I like and also enjoy performing. For example, I love Out of this World, ACR, Jeopardy and the list could go on.

When it comes to watching a card pro at work then for me it has to be Lennart Green and his Laser Deal. It's simly awesome to watch and he makes it look so effortless. I can only begin to imagine what it must look like to a complete lay person.

OOH!!! Kolisar, thank you! Bringing up the Chameleons made me dig in my drawer to play around with that gem! Thanks for bringing it back to attention!

Demitri, I am surprised someone else has heard of that effect! I'm glad someone remembers it as positively as I do.

It's a bit tricky to pull off effectively (I'm still not sure I'm doing it justice, but I've gotten great reactions from it). Perhaps that's why it's not talked about more?
