Making smoke / fire

Postby tiggy49 » Oct 5th, '06, 19:42

well im recently considering buying and learning Silver dream because i dont know any coin magic and it look amazing but anyway i was worried about making smoke when u make a coin dissappear.

Ellusionist recommend Ultra smoke but thts a bit pricey for me so im looking for something similer thats not fire.

Well i guess i may consider fire but something tht makes it look like the coins been crushed into nothingness rather then blown up.

so im wondering is there anything very similer to Ultra smoke.

Ever seen somethig in joke stroes called Mystic smoke? Its like a cream you put on the end of your finger tips and if you keep pinching and releasing it makes a smoke like substance appear and rise to the air. I'm sure theres many places you could find it.

Maybe this is a bit cheaper for the ultra smoke?

The Mystic Smoke thing won't give you much at all. It's not even smoke and won't really go anywhere.

lol, i agree but is very cheap. I suppose it'd only work with childrens magic.

Hmm, i've tried googling and found this on penguin. Its actually real smoke.

ellusionist sold a product - I think it was called 'ultra smoke 2000' or something like that. I bought it about 2 years ago (I think) but when the first 3 pages of the instructions were warnings and disclaimers I decided it wasn't such a good idea. I also found it a bit of a mission to set up and I imagined myself shaking someone's hand and suddenly sending smoke everywhere - so I sent it to a friend of mine in exchange for a really strong magnet - which I haven't used either.

I'm glad I never used it because I think I would have become a bit dependant on using it - I think it's the kind of thing that works well if you're doing a tv show or something, but if you're performing a lot it'll end up being one of those items at the back of the drawer (eating away at everything else - as another friend of mine discovered. It even made a hole in the jacket he used to wear when he had it set up)

The secret to a succesful rain dance is all about timing

I would imagine Mullica could have a couple of things to say :D

When I 'were a lad', I had a model steam train, which used to put out tiny puffs of smoke. As I recal, this was a battery operated toy.

'Mystic' smoke from fingers won't do you much good—it's more like fibres than smoke.

Mini stage generators may work, you could wear it concealed on your person with a tube to the place you need the smoke.
