So let me get this straight, you can BORROW a fiver and visually move the £5 sign, then give the spectator the 'defrauded' fiver to KEEP?!

Ok so you can hand the speccy back 'their' fiver but surely it's going to be permanently altered, thus rendering it unusable. So in effect they've spent five pounds to watch a trick. Has anyone tried this to an unknown spectator in the UK yet? I'd be interested to hear how people react once they realise they've got a note that, however cool, they can't use.

Maybe I'm missing something here but I want to get this a lot and it would be handy to know that all my bases are covered before I shell out.

You can always just say 'And for ruining your note, here's another one' and simply keep the defaced note for yourself :D

Yeah, what you're missing is that LOTS of UK money is 'defaced' and should be unusable. However, it's in circulation.

In fact, here's a little test: take out your wallet (or money vessel) and take a look at the paper money.

In my wallet are 4 x £20, 7 x £10 and a crinky £5. Out of those 12 notes, 3 are defaced. One is simply scribbled on with a ballpoint, one has highlight marker on it, and the £5 note is ripped, with a corner missing.

Of course, nobody *condones* defacing banknotes, but I am sure you can work out yourself if you can justify £5 for a souvenir of some great magic.

and cashiers don't usually pay too much attention to money notes except to check whether its a £5, £10 or £20 or you could simply put your thumb over the top of it covering the missing 5 hehehe

In America, you can take defaced dollar bills to banks and stores to get new ones. Or you can just spend them...Seeing how there is writing, drawings, and so forth on them.

Thanks,

You don't lose a penny...

1. You make the gaff (non-destructive, there's a way round it which doesn't kill a bill, unlike the dollar version—use your imagination!)
2. You borrow a £5er
3. Speccy signs
4. Do the effect
5. Job done—you keep the BORROWED £5er, speccy takes the gaff

You end with a totally clean bill.

Okay sounds well and I feel an urge to buy it, but before I say bye bye to some more money. Is there a bill switch involved? Or do they sign their £5er?

And looks like I'll have to buy it to understand

(non-destructive, there's a way round it which doesn't kill a bill, unlike the dollar version—use your imagination!)

And so basically, they think they signed their £5 note, when actually its the gaffed one? And in the end, you dont actually make a £5er you just have what you started with but un-gaffed? :? [Okay I'm confusing myself]

And does this not work with £10 and £20? But I don't think I'd want to go that high ^^

Okay since you all were swearing on it ,i bought it used from Ebay.
Its genius! But iam standing in front of the same problem as the british magicians, our currency (EURO) got only 5Euro bills as lowest value for the bills too.
Does anyone got a clue how to apply FRAUD on a 5Euro bill?

How about moving the bottom left 5 like over the Eu flag?

I currently have this on order and we use euro here too, I read somewhere on the net (I think it was the elusionist forums) that someone used it with a euro note to drag the flag in the top left over to the right hand side of the note.
