Royal Mail turn to Magic!

Postby Alchy » Oct 24th, '03, 14:10

I placed an order with a well known magic company around 12 days ago.
However the item(s) have still not turned up on my doorstep.
I placed another small order and that one didn't turn up either.
I sent my Mother a birthday card in the post with £50 (postal orders) inside and that never turned up.
This week we have had kids on skateboards and using Tesco shopping trolleys to deliver our mail.

Please Royal Mail tell me how its done. How do you make my mail vanish?

The noted companies have kindly replaced the items and i have agreed to fill out the compensation forms.

P.S Luckily i claimed back the postal orders.

MAKE SURE WHEN YOU ORDER REQUEST THEY SEND BY REGISTERED, SPECIAL DELIVERY POST!

Your situation is not an indication of the general national service, as we use Royal Mail post every day, usually 20-30 items. There's a mixture of regular letterpost, jiffy bags, CD jewel case carriers and the likes... and we've become so reliant on items arriving next-day, due to the excellent service that 1st class mail consistently delivers, that we don't worry so much about special couriers and the likes for our next-day deliveries any longer.

1st Class frank or stamp does the business for us - and our clients. The system seems as reliable as the setting of the sun.

And bear in mind we're working from a converted farmhouse at the top of a hill up two miles of winding 1-track country lanes, and I think that's a pretty good measure - considering that items arrive with us from national locations next-day.

Perhaps you've just had a run of extremely bad luck!

My parcels, especially on Saturdays, DO arrive on my doorstep. The letters are pushed through the letter box. And there's the problem. The parcels remain on the doorstep. No door bell, no knocks, no nothing. A neighbour kindly informed me of a parcel last Saturday which was just left on the wheelie bin. The Post Office are an absolute disgrace.

As for insuring your parcels? Try this on eBay and 99% of the sellers will keep the insurance fee and send the parcel as normal! If the item arrives at all - I've been chasing 4 parcels since Nov 3rd which seemed to have 'vanished'. :!: :?:

Frank.

:(
sorry to hear that and alas you are not alone, check royal snails own figures on how many items they lose on a daily basis :(

The positive about living or working in a "remote place" is that the person that collects/delivers that stuff pays it special attention, it is the vans full of stuff emptied in large towns by temp workers that is the worry and the problem.
Anyway, I for one hope this problem isn't a growing one after all the privatisation that is about to happen.
Hope it works out for you.

Funnily (or not funnily) enough the Royal (pain in the) Mail accidently lost something extremely important this week that was supposed to be sent to me and the party that sent it have so much faith in Royal Mail that they just thought i was lying.

don't know why I'm writing this and it's not magic related but those guys really make me ANGRY
