PK ring losing it's lustre?

Postby Lord Freddie » Oct 11th, '06, 19:55

When I first got my PK ring it was nice and shiny but after consistent use, the sheen has gone off it (as it does with cheap jewellery).
Has anyone else had this problem? What is the best thing to use for cleaning it and restoring it's shine?
Has this happened to anyone else?
I didn't want to use standard jewellery cleaning stuff in case it affected the ring in any way.
Anyone have any advise please?

Yeah mines gone like that abit, but this is my third ring, its been broken twice already. I don't think its really that good.

I've emailed Wizard PK Ring, they asked for my number so its easier to contact, but no reply. for 3 weeks. Emailed them last week...no reply.

But thats off topic, I read on another forum that the normal jewellery polishing sort of, makes the "shell" around the ring go off, I haven't personally tried though.

That's all rather disheartening to hear. :? I was thinking of ordering a band style in the near future.
About how long have you used them before they've gotten either not shiney, or broken?

The new style rings have a very slightly matt finish - it's more contemporary plus sheen issues won't arise! They're also a bit chunkier, so breakages will hopefully be less common. (I sold my original to someone when I got the new one and it broke in the post :( )

I had mine about three weeks when the sheen started to go.
It doesn't look awful but what concerns me is that it may start to
look plastic-like and will stand out a mile off as not being a normal ring.

Also, it made my finger puff up when I had worn it for a few days but then I have an allergy to some metals anyway, but coating the inside with clear nail varnish seemed to remedy that.

There are other threads on this aspect and one of the suggestions was to paint the ring with clear nail varnish which would preserve the existing finish and to a certain extent minimise any allergy problems. I've never tried this but I believe others have found it to be worth doing.
