I was just wondering.. if any of you can share and at the same time recommend me some of your favourite cleanest and best vanishes. I have been inspired by a video on youtube to start doing vanishes as they look really great and magical.

Anyone know the names of the vanishes the guy in the video did? Boy, im really getting inspired

Some of it looks a bit too perfect. At some point there is a tiny jump of movement, like if the video was stopped. its hardly noticable but i don't think he was on his own in making the video.

no way is that real. just watch his face the entire waythrough, and you'll see how much it actually jumps.

Yeah it's fake, there's ways of doing most of that without editing but I reckon there's no single method that could be used to do all of it. Plus at times you can see the jumping.

Did anyone notice the ring? is that what i think it is? Theres a part on the vid that says old methood but no one uses it, I d like to see where it is if it was how comes sankey isnt making 50 dvds with just this like he dose with the E C C. Or in mordern coin magic? I see some trickery of the camera here.

The video does appear to jump a bit, but could there be a device that does allow for such vanishes (assuming resets between vanishes)? Possibly a device named after an Edgar Allen Poe poem? I have never used or seen that device in action so I may be way off here.

I had seen my friend do the stick vanish and i think the way he changed the blue pack of stuff to a key was similar to the technique cyril takayama used in his chewing gum magic; also i have seen magicians like criss angel and cyril put a cigarette into their fist and making it disappear, just like that guy did it with a key.. so i thought it would not be just some cheap camera tricks. Well, maybe 1 or 2 of them but i think mostly it is not?

Maybe not so much jumps as change of light in the background... Suspicious.

yeah most of the vanishes in the video looks fake but the problem is i have seen something similar done on tv so i thought it would not be fake. Anyway, anyone to recommend me some good vanishes? Just don't recommend me the use of the raven.. and i hope some expert here who have seen many vanishes in their career as a magician can give some advice on this..

Yes, you can do a flipstick vanish - and that does appear to be how the item is vanished in the video. However, the noticeable jump afterwards may explain the finish.

I can think of a few ways that some of the things could be achieved, but the sketchy looking jumps make the whole thing look a bit suspect.

Do u think it works like the raven? I mean it vanishes too right? and hes wearing long sleeves... Perhaps he has something attached.

When you talk about vanishes, I think that the most clean ones are, the messia vanish, the watch vanish, revoloution (but it's just so damn impracticle) and the Slydeni. These are all two hand vannishes.

I have some questions about one hand vannishes though, e.g a false transfer. Now I know that after the move you use misdirection to draw attention away from your hand with the coin, and thats what I do, but I still have trouble with keeping the heat from my hand. Although it is getting a lot better, especially now with my slydeni vannish.

I apologise for "misdirecting" the post , but does anyone have any ideas about how to improve the one hand vanish.

KardAddict, try videoing yourself to get an idea of how the vanish look. Retention style vanishes are one of those things that you just have to perform and judge by reactions how they look to others, quite often the effect is spoiled on you because you know exactly what's going on. I think that makes sense I've had a long week.

Its to lake to see the video. Its been removed. But dispite that I haven't seen it I must continue to remind people to becareful when using the "Camera Tricks" blame game. The vanishs Melt and Revolution are so incredible that many would instantly jump to calling it a edit. Yet, we know now that they are very possible. Just because we as magicians don't know the method doesn't mean it can't be done.

But nevertheless I didn't get to see this so I can't really claim one way or the other.
