card sleights

Postby yddraig » Sep 4th, '06, 12:04

Hi
I’m looking for a DVD that goes through some basic card sleights (false cuts, forces, centre dealing and the like) and wonder if anyone has any suggestions? I have been looking as Sankey’s 45, card school and the like, but am open to suggestions…..

Thanks in advance

Richard Kaufman's Basic Card Technique was highly recommended at one time. The camera angles are bit quirky but the demonstrations and expanations are good. The DVD is available from (as well as other places!) http://www.emagictricks.co.uk/product_i ... ts_id=4572

"Daryls encyclopedia of card sleights" would be a good start?

but then of course you could ignore this and just jump on the "Born to perform" bandwagon

I'd second the Kaufman suggestion.

It's got all the basic sleights on one DVD.

Royal Road and Daryl's set are multi-volume DVD's, with too much for a basic intro to sleights.
Born to Perform is more about tricks rather than sleights.

Richard Kaufman's Basic Card Technique
Sleights taught:

The Proper Way to Hold the Deck
How to Obtain And Hold Breaks
Double Undercut
DL (2 methods)
False Cut (2 methods)
Force (3 methods)
Overhand Shuffle (Injogs and Outjogs)
Hindu Shuffle
Faro Shuffle
Zarrow Shuffle
Elmsley Count
Jordan Count
Hamman Count
Secret Addition (2 methods)
False Cut (2 methods)
Multiple Shift (2 methods)
Glimpse (2 methods)
Top Change (2 methods)
Multiple Top Change
Spectator Peek
Side Steal
Bottom Palm
Top Palm

Have you considered the "Encyclopedia of Card Sleights"? It is an eight DVD set, but it does have a LOT of sleights. It has the basics and a lot more.

Note to self: don't scroll so fast while reading posts I may miss one that already said what I was about to say. :)

If you're interested in a DVD, Born to Perfrom by Oz Pearlman is the way to go.
