Hello everyone, from Montreal!

Postby SilverTab » Sep 29th, '06, 00:28

Hi there! I'm new here! Been lurking for a while, but decided to signup now! :)

About me: Well well what to say.... I'm 23 years old from Montreal, Canada, I was always fascinated by magic (who isn't?) but only decided to take up on it lately... I bought Royal Road to card Magic (the book) and I'm considering buying the DVD (although i've been doing pretty good with the book, a visual help can always help)... I'm able to do basic tricks and sleights, and I find everything I learned so far extremely interesting!....What I find interesting is to look at card tricks videos (without the explanation) and try to figure out how it's done, with the basic knowledge that I have so far! :) Just learning a couple of basic moves really changes the way you look at magic!...

Other interests: Well, I like yo-yoing (you can see 2 small videos of me yo-yoing here:
http://www.silverscripting.com/silvertab/combo.html
http://www.silverscripting.com/silverta ... grind.html
you might want to lower your volume on that first vid...there is loud music involved ;) )
)

But I'm still pretty much a beginner in yo-yoing too haha...I also do a bit of juggling...

well, what else? Oh...well I'm a Website developper/programmer... so I also like everything computer related...and well that's pretty much it! :)

Welcome to TM SilverTab from Canada!
Greetings from Iceland!

I tried your links, but I only got black window with text above, no vids.
Platform sensitive perhaps?

Hello to both of you and thanks for the warm welcome! :)

gunnarkr: This is weird! I took the time to test it in both IE and Firefox before posting !.... here is a direct link to the videos ! That way you can just download'em (they are pretty small, around 2mb each)

Are you on a mac? That might be the problem? Still, I think you should be able to see them! :)

Eighter way, you are not missing out on much ;)

Wow... that's really nice.
I just clicked on the links in your reply and it worked fine (without having to download first).
Yup, I'm using Mac, so once in a while I'm facing problems with vids, though Macs are all over the professional section.

Thumbs up for your YoYo skills! :)

hehe thanks ;)

Being a webmaster/programmer, I,myself, am faced with the same problems ;) When I make a webpage, it has to work on all platforms! I do have a mac at home that I use mostly for testing webpages LOL (as its a bit too old for hardcore work hehe)....Of course I didn't bother to try it for something as simple as posting a video, but maybe I should've !

Welcome to the TalkMagic.
I always like YoYos but whenever I bought a nice pro-YoYo, it just vanishes into thin air suddenly. I blame my sister about that but who knows. Nice to see you around..

Oh also Royal Road to Card Magic is a nice way to start magic but sometimes it can be confusing. Check out the GoMagicGo beginners podcast on Royal Road to Card Magic for more tips..

Thanks everyone for the welcome ;)

J0kerz: hehe ca va bien merci ;)

moodini: I've visited their website and browse their catalogue, however I have yet to go there (surely I will eventually though!)... I'm just so used to order stuff on the internet that I tend to forget local shops actually exists hehe... (yeah I know that's bad for local economy  )

Hello and welcome to Talk Magic! It will please you to know that I, mccabe24, am a huge Leafs fan! I think we all know that the Blue and White (note the exclusion of red) will take home the cup this year, as a result of the fantastic play of their star defenceman, Bryan McCabe.

By the way, the Royal Road DVD is pretty pricey. I would stick with the book. But if your mind is set on a DVD, the best thing you can buy is Born to Perform by Oz Pearlman. If you are looking for another book, buy Expert Card Technique (by the same authors of Royal Road). It is a fantastic book and will keep you bussy for quite some time! Good luck and let me know if you need any help or recomondations!
