Impromptu Haunted Deck

Postby Delude » Oct 20th, '06, 07:41

I think I'll probably be performing this to people on halloween [obviously with patter, I think it could go well with the haunted key].

I was bored so I made a quick video of the Impromptu haunetd deck which i actually much prefer to any method using IT.

Well, it's not the same effect obviously, and it's a poor quality video so... there's not much we can say about the performance.

Very nice.

I loved the style of video, the 'aged' look. And the haunted deck cut was very precise, although a little 'fast' to be eerie!

Overall, very good!

Not the same effect? This is the classic haunted deck effect which Delude has performed. The video has been purposely 'aged' to look a little more dynamic.

I would give him top marks for effort and presentation, personally.

I liked it, but as seige says try to do it slower for a more eerie effect. Good stuff...

yeah, i know exactly what you mean. I'll perform it slower with patter and a more eerie effect on halloween.
I know that you can use IT to like cut the deck several times and slide the card out but this is just so much easier, without any gimmicks breaking and having to set things up.

I performed this to my Mum, Dad and Brother and all were extremely shocked! My dad was immediately asking if this is the same sort of thing as the haunted key, so i suppose I could link the effects in.

Thanks for the comments :D

Then I'm wrong. I thought the original effect was moving the selected card from the middle of the deck to the side. In that case I like the gimmicked version better. Here's me performing the gimmicked version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hrj8QzMZDQk
I never posted the video here before because it's not as good as it could be.

Well its all a matter of opinion, but the gimmick can break easily and you don't really want to go setting everything up for a quick performance.

I think the illusion would be much more impressive if the deck were placed on the ground or a table. This would get it out of your hands to show everyone that it was on its own and by itself. Otherwise, its more like your using magic than having a "haunted" deck. 8)

Well, It toally depends on the patter you use. The spectator could hold the deck in their hand if they wnated, or hold your wrist to show that you are doing nothing.

I really liked this, and with the right patter, it would be very convincing!

Good job
