Handkerchiefs (or pocket squares...!)

Postby Farlsborough » Oct 20th, '06, 20:43

Hi everyone,
bit of a boring post - i just had a silk handkerchief made for me (cheaply - £2) at the local indian tailors but have found it's a bit too thin to use for the card effects I want it for... too transparent.

Not all is lost as I've found it's almost perfect for a fake blindfold, but that still leaves me without a decent hanky for the card effects (card through handkerchief, transpo through hankerchief etc.) and also Sankey's bent spoon effect (the one with the OTL bit!).

Does anyone know of anywhere, be it Davenports or Debenhams, that do a thick enough hanky for this sort of thing? I'd really prefer it to be black, dark red or some other tasteful colour - not chequered!

I had the same problem,I tried everywhere I could think of in the high street.
I needed it for Houdini's card mystery, I ended up buying the material & getting the mother in law to knock something.
The closest I came to finding something was tie rack but even that was a bit on the thin side.

Sorry its not much help.

I get all of my solid coloured ones at mens clothing store (suits, ties, etc) they are pocket hanks and they seem to work just fine...I haven't found them to be transparent either.
