World Magic Shop was one of the dealers at the Ipswich Magic Society Convention yesterday, and the Wizard PK Ring was being demonstrated. I had some money and wanted a ring so I bought one along with 2 PK Pens.

The Effect
The first ring designed by Magicians for Magicians!
The Wizard PK Ring is a ring which can do wonderous things, supplied are 2 effects to get you going but the possibilites are endless.

Cost
£20 for; the ring, instructions, box, and 2 PK Pen's. A Bargain

Difficulty
Depends on what effects you want to do, Making watches stop and Moving pens are simple, whilst Coin thru glass bottle is a little bit harder. Practice is needed to tell how close your hands need to be next to an object etc. So anything between 1 and 3.

Review
I Bought a Silver Wedding Band style, in a medium size, which fits my forefinger. And as I grow I can move it down each finger.
I have had a play around with it and it can do lots of things, as well as me looking very stylish.
The good thing about it, is that the ring is simple and stylish, I have wanted a ring that looks like this for a while and for £16, I'm getting a magic utility and a ring.
Its good because it comes everywhere with you, if you use it you use it and if you dont you dont, to get a ring from somewhere like F Hinds that looks like this would be around the same kind of price.

Overall
I like this item, it is stylish, powerful, and works brilliantly. I will use it whenever I can, and the PK Pen's are fantastic.

This has been well reviewed here before, but you are correct in your assessment. I picked up some pens as well, which should be fun! For the benefit of those who were not there, they had them balanced on a bottle and showed how you can make them spin! Would look good on an upturned wine glass on a Ouija board, Boo!

i have to say , i felt the same about the pk ring when i first got one, but as time went by i became frustrated by the restrictions , firstly the fact that it is not that powerful, and PK effects can be very hard to acheive , unless you start balancing forks on the edge of things, which in my opinion is not what someone with real pk powers would do. secondly Click! what was that?? Click!! ohh the coin vanished....but what was that tiny clicking sound?? dont kid yourselves, they can hear it too.

These things are fun, but in my opinion, for coins at least, there is no substitute for hardcore sleight of hand.

if you wanna move stuff about without touching it in an X-men PK kinda way, then check out what the loopy genius Yigal Mesika has to offer, trust me you will not be dissapointed!!

NB Some of the posts above have been edited as they clearly give away the working of the items. The problem of coins 'talking' is not new and is not restricted to PK items, it can happen equally during normal coin sleights so you'd need to deal with this aspect anyway. Bear in mind that, if required, the power of the PK can be increased by gaffing the other item in use and borrowed items such as a crumpled up currency note can be used with PK if you go about it correctly.

I agree with Mandrake. Whilst not a big fan of PK products I have had one or two before and it is a must that you practice or cover the clink etc with some kind of bluff, a sneeze, a loudly pronounced magic word etc etc..... These things can and are overcome regularly!

It even states the working, or main concept on the WorldMagicShop site.

For me, its money well spent, even if it doesn't get used as a magic item its sitting there on my finger looking cool.

As for vanishing coins, why not try what Chuck Leach shows in the Raven video and do a slap vanish, the chinking of the coin would then be natural if you are wearing a ring.

True, but we try to keep the inner workings of tricks a secret if possible - just in case .

Personally I dont really like the PK ring anymore, I got it about in January and this is my third one, I treat it with absolute(sp?) care but it still breaks.

Now I am on my 2nd or 3rd one. And this one is broken it. It was broken since August, I have emailed WolrdMagicShop and the WizardPK site numerous times and tried calling, but still after 2months no answer, or reply.

And I agree with the sound, but thats not that big of an issue. It's just, not powerful enough for me, and it breaks to easy. I might get the "blacks ring" from PenguinMagic, if I can find a decent review.

I think its real power is in its use for mental effects. I have been doing a really nice effect with coins and boxes that has floored a number of audiences, since the whole effect is presented as a psychological test of my ability to read their eye movements and voice intonation. It has played really well.

I disagree. Why should someone with pk abilities be able to levitate chairs, or send cutlery whizzing around the table?

If such powers existed, they'd be very obvious. Clearly, they do not. (OK, it's not actually that clear, but bear with me.)

People have actually done it with PK knee straps and I dare say got a heavy dressing down from security when caught LoL, also loaded die etc but the roulette one has definitely been done, good luck if ya try!!

A few defensive points...

1. If treated with care, the ring is very solid and stable. I've worn the same one since March on and off, and it's solid as a rock.

2. I personally know the creator of the ring/owner of WorldMagicShop. I speak with him every single day. And he answers every email or call he receives. I am sure that you've either got a wrong address, or something else is afoot. Use the returns slip which came with your ring.

3. You won't gain any advantage in buying any other ring. The Wizard was developed specifically as a magicians' ring, and was the first commercially available and affordable solid PK ring. The other 'bandwagon jumpers' all claim more strength, but it's disproven. Stick with the original.

They're the ones they sell at Penguin. I thought that people said that they were stronger than the wizard pk, but I'm not sure as i own neither.

Blacks seem to have just copied Wizard PK and there's no evidence so far to show that theirs is any stronger.
