Verbal Force

Postby mccabe24 » Oct 26th, '06, 03:14

Where is a good place to learn how do verbally force a card? I know how to verbally force one card, but I want to know how to forse at least a few different card values. Plus the sorce I learned it from (a pdf e-mailed to me from a friend) probably isn't the best sorce. Is there a book on this topic? If so, what is it called?

Derren Brown has two in his book Pure Effect; Docc Hilford has one or two on a tape somewhere I think. Really your best bet is to learn about psychology and create your own. Once you know about which words to emphasise, when to make contact with a person, when to pause etc. etc. you should be able to put some together yourself.

and there is another way of verbally forcing a card too, read Banachek's Psychological Subtleties for the "how to's", and Secrets of the Amazing Kreskin for general ideas....

Thanks guys! I think I'll go to the library and take out a book or two on psycology. Though I will probably be looking into the Darren Brown book...

Be warned! It'll take a fair amount of studying and practice before you can begin to suggest a card with any amount of reliability. Books on the infamous area of NLP are good for this sort of thing; if you can find a copy I highly recommend Sue Knight's NLP at Work.

Derren's books have some NLP, and their applications to magic and mentalism; a really in-depth application of a lot of NLP magics to such can be found with Kenton's 'Wonder Words' series.

If you're going to get Derren's book I suggest doing so quickly - I'm fairly sure they're not being printed now, and the ones remaining are the ones on the dealer's shelves. There are some in his Devils Picturebook DVD set however.

Derren also explains his 3 of diamonds force on a video clip on the Channel 4 website, if that interests you...
