mooch - coin through bottle

Postby Mooch » Oct 27th, '06, 21:37

Hey,

I've redone my coin through bottle effect, and have got a much better video for it this time. The video quality is much better than before, the effect is easier to see and I've added a title and credits.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRtfG_3GUi8

As said in the video description, this is my own method, where the bottle can be examined, the coin can be borrowed and signed by the spectator, and still penetrate the bottle. Also, as shown, the coin doesn't actually have to fit through the neck of the bottle.

Comments/advice on both the effect and the video would be appreciated, as this is the first video I've ever edited.

Thanks,
mooch.

Very nice, Mooch. Love it. The fact that it can be signed makes it stand out from the rest. Good work.

Thanks,
Dominick

Thanks Dominick! I've been working on it for a few weeks now, and I think that I am very near to getting the method, patter and presentation perfected.

Thanks again.

Great work Mooch!
Now go on the market, sell it before somebody else does!
Your's seems to be much better than Kevin Parker's Passin Thru, as that can not be signed and must fit through the bottle neck.
Go for it... Get rich! :)

PS. I must say though... I like your "old" vid much better. The one without the loud soundtrack. I like to be able to hear you tap with the coin on the bottle. I like the sound when the coin drops into the bottle and rattles on the inside! More authentic, more believable!

Thanks for the great reply!

Sorry about the new song, I just had a few people complain about the song in the last one. I tried to get both the new song and the sound in the new video, but I've got no idea how to change volumes at different points in the video yet, so I'll try to figure that out soon. In the other one (here) I didn't actually mean to have the song there. It was just playing on the computer whilst I was recording ;)

I may try to market it at some point, but I don't any idea where to start.

Thanks again for the reply, I really appreciate the encouragement :D

Nice work! If the coin that ends up in the bottle is really the signed one and the bottle can be be given more than a superficial examination, then I would say go for it! Market it!

Thanks Cardza!

The coin that ends up in the bottle really is the signed one. The bottle can be looked over, prodded, opened, etc. by the spectator both before and after the effect. You can hand it to them and ask them to try to remove the coin, if you like ;)

Thanks again for all the replies. It's really encouraging to see such nice ones too!

In that case, I am completely baffled! I saw the reply you got over at the Hutch, but I have not come across any coin through bottle with all the features of this one!

Hmm - completely baffled by this 1 lol :?

If the bottle is 100% examinable and the signed coin is the one that ends up in the bottle, then go for it and try and market it
When I first watched this, I just thought that because the coin won't fit through the neck of the bottle, then it's just a case of sneaking it in through a slit (I still think that this is the only possible explanation!!). However, if the bottle is completely examinable, then....... ooh my head hurts :x

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Thanks, both of you! I'm really glad I've managed to baffle you, makes me feel that much better :D

If I do release this I can see some people loving the method, and others detesting it. I've tried it a few times in real-world situations now, and people have loved it and been completely baffled too.

I just came up with another trick, very similar to Ben Williams' excellent trick Labelled, where the label penetrates the bottle. However with my version the label can be signed by the spectator and the bottle can be both borrowed and sealed. The label can be brought back through to the right side of the bottle as well. I'll try to get a video of it up sometime soon.

Thanks again for the replies, I really am glad you all seem to like it :D

It really does seem amazing. Also, the new effect you're talking about sounds crazy man!
So can the bottle be 100% examined, taken home and placed on a mantle piece for others to also examine?

Thanks Delude! I might be able to get a video of my new effect up a little later today.

As for taking the bottle home and having others examine it, it is possible.

By the way (I'm sorry if this counts as advertising, it isn't really meant to be - I just don't know anywhere else I can talk about it), if any of you want to sign up on my forums then send me a PM with your username here and I'll add you to the restricted area bit. I'm probably going to post the method in the research bit there, and just see what you think of it/see if you can come up with any improvements. It also means that you will be able to get the trick for free ;)

Thanks again!

Beautiful trick. It is quite excellent.

I would love to see a live version of this infront of a few spectators with the coined signed if you get a chance. Not for any other reason than just to see the reactions. But I would like to see how it fully plays out.

I recently devised a killer signed coin to a bottle trick that trumps many because it solves one problem I have yet to see worked before. I will get some live clips up soon.

Thanks i1011i! I'll try to get out sometime (been meaning to do that for a while ;)) and record some reactions to this. I recently got a decent video camera, so I can hopefully get some pretty good videos.

I would love to see your effect as well, it sounds great!

quite nice, if that bottle can be examined. I was working on a similar version, but it doesn't allow for a signed coin, so I'll keep working.
