I would have to say telepathy(mind reading) but pk comes a close second. This is a very interesting thread and one i found hard to make a distinctive choice but on that i do think we need to make more threads of this sort because it makes things a bit more interesting.

I use the billet priciple most in my mentalism, thought I use it for a variety of purposes, such as predictions and mind reading. I am mainly a card man, so I like how you can use sleights in billet work that are built on the same principles as the sleights in card work.

I voted telepathy, but would have voted cold reading if it had been for entertainment purposes (ie table magic) and not private readings. I know Craig hates this, but I do a lot of cold reading in my table-hopping routines, and it adds new strength to both the magic and the mentalist areas of my work. Plus I find cold reading a fascinating area to research.

Craig may hate it but Richard Webster actually wrote a book on how to incorporate cold reading into your regular magic!

I pip for mind reading and prediction, which seems to fit my style the most and seems to get the best audience reaction. There are so many techniques and ways of playing it.

Hello Craig,
Do you think there is a market for a bizarre act?

It depends on how bizarre you want to go...

My experience in what's become known as "Bizarre" Magick taught me many, many things the biggest of which is that it's one of the quickest ways one can end up in poverty and starving to death.

Why?

To begin with, depending upon what you are doing, there is an exceptionally limited and presently overly saturated market that this form of performance appeals to. Secondly, most of the patrons that would participate in this kind of "entertainment" are not "fluid" when it comes to cash let alone connections -- their ability to influence media, generate added public interest, etc.

Yes, a properly staged and carefully designed program of this sort can be made viable but most folks get in their own way, typically trying to take on a character that's too big for them to handle... thinking their acting ability to be on par with Sir Anthony Hopkins when they can barely fake their way through William Shatner...

This is a very big area that requires far more attention and discussion than we have room for here.
