Bees perfect for amitous card routine????

Postby Peacock » Nov 3rd, '06, 17:47

I think Bees are perfect for an ambitous card routine, what do you think?

Their back design makes an push off DL undetectable and it makes it harder to think 3D so a bluff pass becomes really easy.

I am very sorry to ask a noob question here, but what is Bees?

By reading Their back design makes an push off D/L undetectable.... I think it is a card deck.

Can someone help with that?
Thanks. :D

They're made by the same people who make Bikes - and are basically a borderless pack of playing cards. See here for example: http://www.usplayingcard.com/uspcconsumer.html.

They're perfect if you use a push-off DL...I go for a Strike myself, so it doesn't really bother me, plus Bees are a pain for reversed cards.

As Cardza pointed out - reversed cards stick out like a sort thumb.

I don't quite see how they make the bluff pass more convincing, though.

I like bees, but since I have a few effects that deal with reversed cards and that kind of thing, I stick with my bikes.

Got to agree with Cardza and Demitri, and also add that I think people get suspicious because the back is slightly difficult to focus on - plus, I stick to the age old principle of just sticking to the same cards that all your gaffs etc. are made of to breed familiarity, so my range of special/different/luxury decks is limited to one Viper and one Black Tiger!

I personally prefer Tally's after buyin my first deck about 3 weeks ago, they lasy longer are moure damage resistant and look beautiful.

Only thing is, although I prefer Tally's I still use Bikes as my ID, BD and Gaff deck plus my utility cards all come in bikes so..

Although ths has all been said by others, I will add my voice. Bees will show reversed cards, so if you plan on doing any effects that include having a card reversed in the deck you may want to reconsider. It may also raise suspision if you use Bikes (or any other brand) for all of your other effects and then switch to Bees for your Ambitious Card rouine. You may be able to craft your patter in such a way as to explain/justify the switch but it could be difficult.

Like I.D., I like Tally-ho's but I use Bikes (for me it is because they are easier to find).

Kolisar

It is quite easy to justify a deck switch.
These are the ways I use:

1. These are Bicycle cards, but have you ever seen Bees, the cards used in casinos blablabla

2. Say that you need for the next trick the 8 of hearts an then pretend it got lost so you need another deck

3. Fan the deck really badly and say it got sticky, then pull out the Bees

Yes, but if the routine after the ambitious card requires you to switch decks again you may raise suspision. I agree the casino angle can be used to introduce Bees, but that explaination would only make sense if you were going into a gambling routine.

You could also introduce them via a colour changing deck effect.

I think that the switch (and such a dramatic one as the decks are very different) would require strong justification, but perhaps I am over thinking this. Since you have successfully done so in the maner you have described without raising suspision, it obviously can be done. I personally have never tried as I always use the same type of deck when I perform and if I switch decks, it is to an identicle one (bike to bike, tally-ho to tally-ho).

For this trick, I just use Bikes. Never liked how Bees looked.
