Well, its better than I could do! Truth be told, Im not much of a magician in my opinion. I still dont have most of the basics down, but that looked good. Just try to make it smoother.

Thanks, I only really got the pass down a few days ago.
Up until the last week I only made attempts at the pass a few times a day for a month or so, but then it finally started working so I feel I've made alot of progress just in the past week.

Heres some thing I noticed, - I flash the packet im bringing from the top to the bottom (when its at its lowest position and just about to slide under the now top packet), I do this every single pass. How do I stop that, is it speed or cover?

If you don't already have it, I would recomend Richard Kaufman's On The Pass. It provides both excellent instruction and insight on covering the pass.

better then my attempts :) i can't do the pass to save my life, one of the TM members pointed me in the direction of a turnover pass. and i've been doing that since :)
all i would say is try and angle the cards down a bit more, very good :)

Watch the little finger on your right hand and your left index finger - they're both going walkies which is a common problem. Practice it slower. Go really slow and concentrate on using as little movement as possible. Go for smoothness before you start trying to build speed up. You'll soon realise that you don't need to perform the pass fast anyway.

The flashing of the packet can be lessened by bringing the top packet around, rather than out and down. A rocking forward motion duirng the pass will also cover the movement.

You've got the mechanics of the move pretty well sorted considering you haven't been practicing for very long.

What you call heroism is just an expression of this fact; there is never a scarcity of idiots

I have to completely disagree with perfecti. Do NOT speed up your pass. A pass has no reason to be hyper fast. Do more for giving proper cover and blending it into natural movements and take it nice and slow. Trying to rush the pass will do the following.

1) Make your pass unnatural.
2) Make it look like a move has happened.
3) Make it more difficult for you to correct your mistakes in the future.

The pass has tons of little subtleties in movement and technique. You will lose most of those by focusing on speed.

Perfelti and i1011i are both right.

If you get really good at the pass, you can do it in an instant. You just about won't need the patter or much of it. But as i1011i mentioned, the important thing is it blending in.

You got the sleight down, now you need to utilise it. Move your entire arms a big. Big movements cover small ones.

Anyways, it's been a long time since I last came onto this forum. LOL I forgot it's URL and could never remember it. Now I have. XD So hey again, to all those who might remember me. :)

Thanks for all your replies. Some very helpful comments.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna buy a DVD on the Pass but which should I get - On the Pass, or Pass with Care? Or are there any others with better info? Or any good books on it instead??

I have the Royal Road to Card Magic book, but its not very clear on the pass.

Its not bad but you can practice it like this :
Try to do the pass whenever you can ,even if your effect dont call for a pass, just try to get away with it in front of your audience (thats what i did for the classic force).

everyday on the way home from work, in the car with the missus i get about 250 passes in whilst she drives, i put down the vanity mirror and angle it so i can see waht i am doing as in what i think the spectator should see.

works a treat.

I don't know about "Pass with Care" but you will not go wrong with "On The Pass", it's an excellent DVD about the pass. Kaufman makes alot of good points about the passes and teaches you several different ones which of you can pick the one that suites you best.
